Organizing your iPhone Apps

Happy Sunday! What a week it’s been again! I was in London Monday till Thursday for business and attended a two-day conference. The flight back and forth was rather calm – I usually sleep the whole flight! I did manage to stay awake though, both times, for roughly 20 minutes. Whilst listening to a podcast, I used the time wisely and decided it’s time to “clean up” and re-organize my iPhone apps.

As you can perfectly see – it was the perfect chaos! I mean I did know where everything was that I always use and need. Yet, I almost pushed this task to another day and with more and more time passing the look of my iPhone really started to bother me. I decided to not only re-organize the apps, but also to delete everything I have not used in a year and what I surely don’t need anymore.

Now, I do have quite a few apps I rarely use, though needed to keep. These are usually business related, and include logins that are needed for certain banks. Those, of course, I had to keep.

I wanted a clean look. I decided that no more than 12 apps should be shown on each iPhone screen, and I did not want more than 3 iPhone screen pages (is that the right word?). The first slide is the apps I use on a regular basis – and those I cannot live without. The second slide of apps I use almost everyday, though not as often. The third slide is all the rest that I don’t use as frequently but need either for business reasons or simply just apps I like having but the usage of is rare.

This was the final outcome:

Slide 1 – as you can see, is now clean and has the most important apps for me
Slide 2 is likewise clean and has important apps I use every few days. Slide 3 has allays that I still use once in a while but not as frequent.

To all those that have not yet organized their iPhone (or I guess same thing goes for Android?), I highly recommend it. Not only is it super satisfying, but also so much more efficient in the daily use.

I have seen some people organize all apps by color. Although I do love the look of it, I did not find it practical. I actually tried it for page one, but really, it made it worse for me to try and find apps. So this solution worked much better for me!

7 Must-Have items in my bag

Wednesday already! I hope everyone is enjoying the week so far and not stressing themselves overly. Speaking about stress; it’s really gotten to me lately. My stomach is upset a LOT (especially in the evenings) and I am more and more having to deal with anxiety. I would be super happy to receive tipps on what you do against anxiety or any other recommendations you have. I am thinking about starting something to help me off here a little but I need to test and try it first before talking to you guys about it.

So, here we go. I’ve had a discussion with a friend recently about female handbags. Why female you ask? Because we constantly manage to overpack. I am totally on the same page with most of you out there (those that have the same issue) and decided to making a small list and organising myself better before going on trips. Now, it really depends on whether I go by car, train, (I get car and train sick), by plane and how long I travel.

Here however, are my 7 must-have essentials that I try and keep in my bag constantly:

  1. Wallet – it includes everything from my ID to my blood type (yup, always in there), my health insurance card in case something happens, credit cards and some cash. I don’t carry a lot of cash with me most of the times given I feel I spend it way too fast :) though I do like to keep two-three currencies in my bag. In Switzerland that of course would be Swiss Franks, but I usually also carry some Euros and USDs – because well, you never know!
  2. Sunglasses – I always, always, always have a pair in my handbag. Even on a cloudy or rainy day, you never know when the sun peaks out – or when you just want to look super cool. Also, remember it is better for your eyes (if you have sunnies with have UV filter)!
  3. Hand lotion – a must have for me since recently! I was never into hand lotions, though the woman I get my nails done at has been telling me that my hands are too dry for too long. So I decided to now always carry one around with me.
  4. Airpods / Headphones – because you know, music. But really, I love listening to music or podcasts whenever I get the chance! Also, taking a call is always easier hands-free, especially if you have an Italian vibe to you and love to use hand gestures 24/7.
  5. Lipstick – I don’t really use lipstick often. Yet, I do always carry one around just in case. In the end, a good lipstick can save any outfit and make you look party ready when you really aren’t, instantly!
  6. Notebook and pen – I admit it, I love the old school way of writing things down by hand. I usually carry around an agenda, too, though I need to buy new papers to put in there. For now, I am using this cute little notebook for drawing down my notes and thoughts on the go. You never know when that next business idea hits you!
  7. External charger – something I keep forgetting but love having with me SO much. Phones nowadays last much longer than they did 2-3 years ago, yet by far not as long as they used to 10 years ago. Because I am a social media nerd (jk), need to check my emails and be reachable whenever and wherever, my phone has to be charged at all times!

Visiting Frankfurt and speaking about future homes

on the 11th floor in our hotel room at the Hilton Frankfurt City; wearing a Zara outfit and shoes from a small boutique store in Malta

Happy Thursday! Wow, where has the week gone so fast?! I have the feeling the week went by super fast and I barely got as much done as I had hoped. Well no, I did actually get a whole lot done, just not as much in my private life as I had hoped. Either way, we still have Friday and the weekend to come and I am hoping to catch up on some stuff, then.

My dad and I left for business to Frankfurt yesterday by train and arrived in the early evening. Just in time to check another few emails in the hotel room and make our way to the big event. It was HUGE. We were at the Yard in Frankfurt and almost 700 people attended (or so we were told). Really good for networking. We stayed until around midnight and then went back to our hotel – and as tired as I was, I could not fall asleep. So frustrating! It did give me the chance though to calm down and read through some blogs before closing my eyes.

And guys.. the bathroom light. A dream! This may sound a little random but hear me out. Our bathrooms at home are great – they have everything you need (we have two), they are super modern and clean. But they have the worst lighting and it can be SO frustrating at times. I really do not understand how some people can build homes, especially bathrooms, with bad lights. So when we came into the Hilton and I saw the light (even at midnight when everything else was dark in the room), I was amazed. So amazed, that I had to take some selfies, haha.

Believe it or not, this is a mirror I will want to have in my future house. Yes, my house. Ha, I don’t think I have mentioned anything on the blog about it yet but I am already working on my future home. And not just working a little bit, no, I mean really getting together all my inspiration and sources and filing them neatly. What started out with a Pinterest dream years ago already is slowly becoming more and more important to me. It was and always has been my dream to build my own home or renovate a house – whatever it may be. My goal right now, and I am dead serious about it, is to achieving this goal in the very next few years at most. It’s a huge financial commitment and who knows what other stones may be laid in my path before that but I am keen on making it happen.

I also spoke to a woman last night in Frankfurt (the wife of a business partner), whom is an architect. She regularly builds, renovates and styles homes for people of all financial classes (well, rather the upper classes is my guest after our longer talk). Either way, she told me to start a portfolio already now and be sure to put out all pictures and more or less know exactly what I want when the time arrives and I speak to an architect. She says the most money is thrown out when people cannot decide on what they want, or when the architects “need” to help out and decide for them (which is usually more expensive). And even worse – the more you change things during the process the more expensive it gets. She also told me that building from scratch is ALWAYS cheaper than renovating – so that is my ultimate goal. Let’s see, when and how I will be achieving that!

Week 35 and counting

Happy Monday from Malta! Yesterday, Sunday, I flew to Malta to take a few days off. I wish! Honestly, I came here to see my dentist haha :) I had to get a filling fixed and really prefer my dentist here. Also, we have an apartment in Malta which makes everything so much easier. So I am staying here until Wednesday, enjoying the weather and working from home until then.

Enjoying the heat may sound a little exaggerated – it is SO hot here. At night it only goes down to 27°C if you’re lucky and today we have 33°C. I am melting!

the view from our balcony! I’ll never get tired of it!

So I thought I’d give you another heads-up of the week and what I have on my agenda – and take you with during the week of course.

Today/Monday – in Malta. I saw the dentist this morning and now am working from home / our balcony. The view is amazing and even though I’d love to go around or go shopping, my inbox is exploding. So it’s all about work today.
Tuesday – Another day working from the balcony. I also need to shoot something small which I am super excited about and will show you these days on the blog and instagram if all goes well! I may even have time to go to Zara in the evening and check out what’s new in store. I almost never find time to shop in Zurich so here I may find some time. AND, it’s a whole lot cheaper (around 30%).
Wednesday – back to the dentist – getting a second filling re-done so all is set for the future and get my teeth cleaned overall. I’m such a fan of getting my teeth professionally cleaned every few months if possible. Then I will be flying back to Zurich in the early afternoon.
Thursday – Hopefully seeing a dear friend for lunch that I haven’t seen in forever! In the evening I have a business event to attend. Thankfully the title is “Sumer Party” so I am looking forward to catching up with a few people from the industry over a glass of sparkling wine!
Friday – Nothing is planned so far. Yet, if the weather is good I am hoping for a nice lovely dinner somewhere outside with my love. I hate being away from him and cannot wait to seeing him again!

Also: how lovely was this purple sky when I boarded last night in Zurich?! I did contrast the image slightly but it really was beautiful!

New week, new projects

Happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend :) we had such a lovely time in Frankfurt visiting a few friends. It was super cozy and we spent the weekend with the 3 dogs and 2 small kids (one baby!); so so cute. The baby napped on my chest what it felt like half of the weekend and I totally fell in love. However, no babies for us yet, hehe. We still have time.

As I did not take too many photos on the weekend, I wanted to share some shots from our BBQ that we had at our place on Thursday. Samuel really outdid himself once again with the foods he bought. I especially loved the starters, which was a combination of ham, sashimi and oysters – so good!

Tomorrow I will be attending the D:Pulse Conference in Zurich which will focus on marketing trends and technologies (such as AI). I am very much looking forward to the event and happy to share some of my findings with you guys! I will, however, need to jump out of the conference in the morning to attend a rather important meeting at our office. Busy busy these days again!

So I thought about doing a small weekly overview of what my tasks are (other than the normal office days) for you guys:

Monday/today: preparing another blog post
Tuesday: Marketing and AI Conference
Wednesday: seeing a close friend over lunch, working on a collaboration; writing a blog article and taking photos in the evening
Thursday: attending a conference about Wealth Transfer (for business); researching for another personal project
Friday: going to the VET to check Zaphira’s post-surgery recovery
Saturday: hopefully golfing (depending on the weather)
Sunday: flying to Malta

I may make a weekly overview like this to post either Sundays or Mondays. What do you guys think?
