Sunday is a Salad Night

Happy Sunday guys! The week has passed enormously fast, once again. Luckily, the weather has been incredible this weekend and, since I my studies only start next week again, I’ve been out and about the whole day. I started my Saturday morning with a relaxed two-hour brunch and some great conversations at Café des Amis here in Zurich. It was the first time I went, thanks to the introduction of a friend, and I must say it surely is lovely. Due to the good weather the place was full however, and we sat inside instead. Though the food was good (and my friends food looked amazing), they were a little inflexible with regards to my allergies. Is it such a big deal to make scrambled eggs fresh without any lactose (milk)? Nevertheless, my two fried eggs and avocado were good!

After a swim-workout at the Hallenbad (swimming pool in Zurich) I met up with a friend in the afternoon, strolled through the city, sat in the sun over some drinks and went for sushi afterwards. He introduced me to Sora Sushi, right at the main train station (Hauptbahnhof), where they have all-you-can-eat specials on the weekend. Trust me when I say I really did eat all I could – rolling out of the place satisfied! The best part here was, that it not only was delicious, but there was no limitation on the amounts of sashimi you could order. If you know me, I really like sushi (Maki especially), though love sashimi! An elderly couple next to us most likely hated us for a short amount of time, though, as we took all the salmon sashimi off the conveyor belt one time: :’) We did give them the next rounds, though!

With all the eating yesterday, today will be rather light. I love making a quick salad in the evenings, which doesn’t leave you feeling like you are rolling-around yet still fills you enough until its time for bed. Speaking off, I will try to eat a little earlier today and will walk off to the kitchen soon. How did you spend your weekend? xo

Sunday

Sundays are for lovers? Sure they are. But they are also for staying in bed as long as possible, only getting up to go to the kitchen or the needed bathroom once in a while. My Sunday has been exactly that: I’ve not left the bed for most of the day today. I am used to getting up every day to sit at the computer one time or another to work on my studies, write a paper and prepare the week ahead. This and next week I finally have vacation though (from uni), before the next module starts. So I’ve decided to stay lazy most of the day, talk to my friends on the phone (which can take hours when catching up) and to look through my photos and get everything a little more organized on the digital side. This is a picture of mini me, discovering my joy for driving at a young age already – I looked so innocent! :’)

Now it’s time to do something though – I cannot lie around the whole day – its been enough, I’ve enjoyed it, but now I need to get active. I’ve decided to sort through some more papers today, then get back into my swimming routine. Tonight will most likely be lazy again, too – and plan ahead for tomorrow (so not super lazy). It’s a public holiday tomorrow but I want to get some personal projects going again and work on that – to be updated soon! What are your plans? xo

Sign of Life

Good morning from Alicante! I know I’ve been offline the past couple of weeks and I apologize for not updating anything – really though, I’d rather leave my page somewhat empty than fill it with trash. However, I wanted to send a sign of life – yes, I am still alive. Work and uni have kept me extremely busy in the past weeks and now I am finally taking some days off in Alicante (Spain). That being said, I will start regular updates again after my vacation :-)

I am currently spending my days morning till late afternoon on my grandparents boat, whom I am visiting, swimming all day and trying to get in as many tan sessions in as possible! Oh and the food! – We go out for dinner almost daily, and let me tell you I think I gained 100 pounds by eating all this seafood and drinking it down with good wines. Delicious!

I arrived Sunday afternoon and will be leaving tomorrow evening already – short trip it was once again. The weekend then is packed as usual, with a million events happening in Zurich in the upcoming days. Monday I am back to my work and uni routine – so that’s when you’ll hear more of me again. Till then, xo

Mondays Smile

Good morning and happy Monday morning! I hope you all survived Valentine’s Day and enjoyed the day highlighting love in every way possible. I myself was actually quite busy and didn’t have any time to really enjoy nor relax this weekend. However, Valentine’s did arrive for me! I received an anonymous set of 12 amazingly pretty, red roses! In the end they of course did not stay anonymous, but it absolutely made my day on Friday. If you haven’t seen the flowers yet – they are on my Instagram account @laurananette, so beautiful!

My Valentine’s Day started at 9.00am in the pool in a full body dry diving suit. I passed my theory test Friday evening and went straight to practicing under water both Saturday and Sunday – it is so fun! I still cannot get over the fact that you stay absolutely dry under the suit – I was wearing normal sports clothes and was dry after 4,5h in the pool. How cool is that, please? However I was quite exhausted when getting back home both days at around 1.30pm. Sunday in the pool went even better than Saturday and our teacher said we are ready for the open water! Ok, not quite as open as the ocean yet, but with the dry diving suit we will be going into the lake next weekend! Although I am quite excited to see what everything looks like in the lake (supposedly very pretty!) – I’m super afraid of getting cold. The suit is supposed to keep me dry and warm but, just think about it: the lake has a current temperature of 4°C! That is freeziiiiing.. brrr :-( I’ll definitely update you on that went though!

I am now on the train on my way from Zurich to Geneva for meetings all day today and tomorrow. I’ll be staying in a hotel tonight so I’m quite happy to not have to go back and forth on one day. It does take the stress away a bit. I won’t be able to sleep in though, nor enjoy a rather large breakfast tomorrow as the first meeting is quite early! I’ll then get back to Zurich tomorrow evening (probably quite late) to go see the doctors on Wednesday and then continue work at the office again. Doctors.., eh. I have an infection in my tendon on my right wrist – and you might imagine, being a right-handed, that isn’t the most fun activity to go through. I’ve had it too often though in the past months so I’m getting everything checked now by specialists. Let’s cross fingers that she allows me to keep on typing!

The pictures below, to add a sentence to them, are of me wearing the lovely Swarovski earrings I received from my best friend a couple of weeks ago! I love how they are gold and work with basically all my other jewelry. I used to only wear silver all my years but that has completely changed in the past 2-3 years and now I absolutely love and prefer gold :-).

One last time; Summer

Hi all – I am back! It feels like I’ve been gone for ages. Actually, I tried posting earlier, but I had some problems uploading the photos and content during my actual trip to Alicante. It was LOVELY. It’s always somewhat special when visiting the grandparents. No matter what age, one is almost always treated like the little one that never grows up. Oh, how I love that feeling. Except for the wine-part – I love enjoying a glass of wine to my dinners, thankfully that was no matter to discuss.

We went out for dinner almost every night – except Thursday, when my grandpa cooked us his delicious, various specialties. Thursday is also their traditional night of shooting. They meet up with friends of their age at a specially rented place and do some “fun-shooting” as they call it. Guess what: Not only did I participate, but also did I win that night with the most points; even setting up a new record. Yep, I think I’ve found a new talent, too.

Besides swimming in the ocean everyday, except for the first day (was a little bit too wavy), being on the boat daily and going out for dinner, I managed to get quite the tan after only a few days. Oh how I love being tan. I am usually super pale, which ends  in people frequently asking me if I am feeling ill or if that is my “natural” paleness in winter. Yes, I am super white in winter. The happier I was, that I managed to increase my tan-lines before the summer came to an end.  This year’s winter goal: keeping that tan as long as possible!

Speaking of summer-endings: It’s officially autumn (or fall) as per today – at least in our calendars. As much as I love(d) the summer, I am eagerly excited for autumn. I love it when the leafs change their color, when everything around me turns red, orange and yellow and when I can start wearing all the layers again. Speaking of, have you seen the new collections coming in? It seems I am endlessly drawling over the new pieces when walking around town. This “I-really-need-to-start-saving”-mode has just not yet arrived haha. Anyone have similar troubles?
