Coziness in Miami

Good morning! I still have so much content left from my travels from 3 weeks ago. Looking through my phone last night I just found these photos again and searched through their website. Anthropologie is a store I stumbled upon on my little Saturday shopping spree in Miami – and I fell in love. It has this Scandinavian charm to it (and knowing me, you know I love everything from there) and I could have bought the whole store. They have such cute clothing pieces. What really struck me though, is their interior design pieces. There were so many bronze pieces, so many colorful, amazing plates, such great details everywhere – and so much stuff for my kitchen. However, there are some problems: my kitchen isn’t the greatest, my kitchen is already quite filled, my apartment in general isn’t all too empty (I love everything cozy for my home), and my luggage was already more than full. Good thing is, it didn’t kill my wallet. Yet again, I went on their online shop and fell in love, again. What are your favorite pieces? I am in love with the plates and dog-faces on them. And the bronze cups. Oh. Everything, really. Now I need to jump and go to the office though – so I’ll have to get back to this later tonight! xo

I scream for Ice cream

0 Permalink

It is hot (!) outside. We currently have 33°C in the shade in Zurich today and you can’t imagine the heat in the office. Although it feels “cool” when coming into the rooms, it also gets warm after a while. And of course, it is even hotter outside. Today was a long day – I had a meeting that took well over 5hours; though thankfully it went well. Now I just packed my things together, will leave the office and go to the pool for a swim. It’s so relaxing and refreshing – yet it feels like the water is ice-cold compared to the temperatures outside haha. I also had the most delicious banana ice-cream the other day with my bestie (bought in front of Globus) – and I am really craving another one. The heat is the perfect excuse, so I might jump on the bike after and get myself one. Seriously though, if you are ever in Zurich, try this ice-cream. And make sure to try the banana one. I haven’t tried any others to be honest (most are not lactose free), but this one is insanely good. And I am very, very picky when it comes to my sweets. Quite frankly, I am not the biggest ice-cream lover out there – but this one got me totally hooked!
Tonight will be, sadly again, all about studying. Thankfully, it’s my last night before I have two weeks off of uni – means, I will finally be able to enjoy the weather. If it stays well – so cross fingers! xo

A Day in Maastricht

2 Permalink

Flowers! I love flowers – and I love Maastricht! The combination of both made me smile the whole of last Sunday. As you might have read from my last posts, I was in Düsseldorf this past weekend to visit my family and enjoy some time off. Sunday we decided to drive to Maastricht (Holland), to go for some shopping and (for me) to explore a new city. I have never been there before, although it is only an hour drive from where we live in Germany, and I must say I absolutely love the city. I love Holland in general – what is it with the people always being so kind and happy over there? It’s so great!

As much as I love fashion, I cannot stop myself from going into Interior Decoration shops at the moment. Or shops that have a great variety of baking and cooking utensils. Okay, I admit I love everything that has to do with (my) home – be it the closet, the insides, the shoes that are stored and kept at one’s own place, the kitchen, the lovely decorations all around, just everything. Holland (and all Scandinavian countries it seems) have a great, and I mean GREAT, sense of style in regards to living at home. One of my all-time-favorite stores is probably Rivièra Maison. They have a semi-big store in Düsseldorf, a store with some of their designs in Zurich, and a HUGE store in Maastricht. It is over three levels large and has about everything I could ever dream of for my future home. I made so many photos in that store (I’ll have to show you in another post) and of course had to buy a few decoration pieces for my apartment. I cannot wait to show you!

Back to flowers – I love flowers how you might have noticed. What is it with the Dutch and their amazing talent for making the most amazing flower arrangements? And they are so cheap compared to prices in Zurich, and even to most places in Germany. Unfortunately the long drives ahead and the traveling in between made it impossible for me to take a whole bunch of flowers with me. However, I had to buy two vases – a large and a smaller one. I can’t wait to buy more flowers now (and show you each and every bouquet)! :-)

Till then, I wish you all a great Wednesday! I shall have a long day at the office it seem and then Friday morning (if not tomorrow tonight) I will be off to Geneva. Till then! xo

Signals of Spring

Happy Wednesday! I seem I start every post with a happy day – maybe I should switch that up with a quick and easy hey? I am currently sitting in the Ritz Hotel in London, sipping on my diet coke and looking through my study material and searching through Instagram. It’s finally March, meaning Spring is just around the corner and better yet, Summer is coming – surely, but slowly! Especially on Instagram I notice all these pictures of flowers – especially tulips! I would not blame anyone though, I myself am a huge, huge lover of tulips and buy flowers weekly (if I am home). I love white tulips. As much as I love black in regards to clothes, I love everything at home in white and earthy tones. White seems so fresh, so clean, so pure. It brightens up the mood and everything is light around you. It’s the perfect contrast to myself wearing black most of the times!

London has been great – the past days have been busy with meetings from mornings till evenings and my inbox is exploding alongside. Joy – I’ll be cleaning that up in the upcoming days. Today has been less stressful and I was even able to see a close friend of mine over a lovely lunch. It’s so great to have friends all over the world. When business allows it, I can meet people in most cities I travel to.

This post is quite short and I only wanted to give you a heads up – I am alive and living life to the fullest (well, at least I am pretending to). :-) I need to pack quickly and then get back to the airport. I want to arrive a little early so I can buy my favorite Clinique creams (body lotions, face creams, eye creams – that sort of stuff) at the airport. It is so much cheaper in London compared to Zurich! I also treated myself today with a little shopping today before lunch (ok, a rather large treat for my definition!). You will find a hint on my Instagram – @laurananette. :-)

Wish you all a lovely continuing day – let’s cross fingers that Spring won’t let us wait all too long (it’s still quite chilly, at least in London and Zurich). xo

New Patent Leather Loafers

4 Permalink

My love to black and gold in combination seems unstoppable. Now, how amazing are these new patent leather loafers I got myself from Zara? I’m a huge fan of loafers. Little do I own any ballerinas – I believe I do have 1 pair, actually. Ballerinas are too cute, too feminine – for my taste. I like adding a boy-ish look to my outfits, a boldfaced twist of some sort. This can be done with different materials, patterns, images, colors or what the piece represents in general (patent leather, leather in general, gold, or in my case feminine skulls such as my necklace out of gold).

I was actually in Zara to look at the last end of summer sales they had on stock. Guess what? I found nothing. As much as I love clothes and absorbing fashion in all possible ways, I am quite picky when it comes to actually buying the pieces. Instead, I was drawn to the new collection immediately – I found several pieces, I’m sure will land in my wardrobe with time. Not just at Zara’s, but several different stores. These loafers were actually quite well hidden somewhere on the bottom of a rack. Honestly, I barely look down – maybe I should more often! Only by chance did I see these beauties when I was about to leave the store. My luck, they had exactly one pair left in my size – or at least in store. Doesn’t that scream BUY ME, already? It surely seemed like it. To my favor, I really do not own that many shoes for that period of transition between seasons. That way it made perfectly sense to get a pair that would be easily combined with my wardrobe colors – as I mentioned before, almost all is black. At least that is the color I wear more often (yes, I know, it’s not a color officially).

Have you had a chance to look at the new collections in store, already? What’s your must-have from Zara (or any other store)? I’d love to hear all about it – maybe it’ll be something I would need with time, too. For now, happy Wednesday everyone!
