Easy Dinner @ Home

0 Permalink

Last nights dinner: super easy, done in 10 minutes and I’d like to say semi-healthy, too. We had gyozas filled with mushrooms and chicken, which we got at our local asian store close by. I absolutely love these things and may just call them my new favourite meal for when I don’t want to cook for long. Honestly, we only had to steam them for about 10-12 minutes and prepare the salad on the side. For the steaming we used our Thermomix. Samuel bought it a while ago and I am slowly but surely loving it more and more. It really does make life easier sometimes.

Otherwise, our day was rather less exciting: typical Mondays. I worked from home today, took Zaphira to the vet (the bandage was taken off), and we were able to cook at home for both lunch and dinner. We’re trying to cut down on eating out; for health reasons and to try and spend a little less on food. Let’s see how long we can last ;) We did go out on Saturday, though, and really enjoyed that. We decided that once a week we will continue having our date night out with a good dinner at some cute restaurant. Can any of you recommend any good restaurants in Zurich that are not on the top of list of every google search?

Guilt-free desserts

There is something so sweet about it. Something that warms up your soul and satisfies every cell of your body. Yes, I am talking about chocolate. Recently, I have become obsessed with the taste of chocolate and the feeling of satisfaction it leaves you with. Of course, next to snacking on the unhealthier version from time to time (normal chocolate, or worse, M&Ms), I try reaching for the rather guilt-free and healthy version whenever possible. On Saturday I had a friend over for dinner (salad) and made him this tasty guilt-free chocolate mousse for dessert. He wouldn’t believe me when I told him it was mainly avocado and bananas he was eating right then and there. I’ve shared the recipe before, so I will link it again here for you. The salad was absolutely amazing as well – I paired it with some avocado, egg, chicken, and mango; which really gave it that last fresh kick it needed. Especially now that summer is coming (slowly but surely I hope!) I love mixing in fresh fruit and especially berries into my meals. It’s just so satisfying and refreshing. Tomorrow I will have another friend over for dinner before we head out for some drinks and then come back in (a sleep-over; yay!). I will most likely make that chocolate mousse again because 1) I love it and 2) she is the biggest chocolate lover I have ever met in my life (typical Swiss hehe). So it will be interesting to see whether she enjoys the healthy version or whether she needs the real chocolate one to satisfy her cravings. I am still unsure what to make for dinner as such – and am thinking of going for a salad again – but do you have any ideas? I’ve become quite boring with my food choices lately. :)

Salads & a Sat Outfit

I am not sure what it is with me and salads at the moment – but I can’t get enough of them right now. I’m having at least one a day and usually make them myself at home. My mom showed me a dressing she always does and I absolutely love the taste! I’ll try to get a few nicer pictures sometime soon and then share it with you -it is super easy and makes any salad just taste so much better!

Also, I was wearing these sick looking jeans on Saturday and received a few compliments that night as well as quite a few PMs on my instagram and snapchat asking where I got these. So here it goes: Topshop! Lucky me I found them on one of my travels to London two weeks ago and I was so eager to finally wearing them. They are already such an eye-catcher that everything else can be kept rather simple I think. I paired it with an old blouse from Zara and shoes from Alto. Voila, easy, quick and eye-catching!

My weekend generally was amazing – I worked a bit on my uni stuff, went out (until 5am – rare for me!), barely slept Saturday night, went to the gym both on Saturday and Sunday (and can still feel it!), met a few new, lovely people and then went for a nice 2.5h walk Sunday afternoon with of my closer friends here in Zurich to enjoy the sun. I love the fact that Spring is coming – and it officially started as per yesterday – and cannot wait for the days to become longer and finally, finally warmer again! This week ahead is rather busy as well. Not just work, but also on the private side – I will be seeing quite a few people to catch up over coffees, lunches and dinners. I absolutely love it! What are your plans for the week ahead – anything good happening on the weekend ahead? xo

June 1st

Happy 1st of June! How does time pass so fast, and how was it New Years only (feels like) yesterday? I know I am lacking updates majorly right now and my work and studies probably aren’t best excuse – because, well, they always tend to be. Nevertheless, much has been going on and my schedule for the next couple of weeks is full. Quite frankly, my calendar for almost the whole year is planned (more or less), with one trip at least once every four weeks. Now in June I will be in Geneva for business, Germany to see my family (sister’s high school graduation!), back in Geneva for business and then straight to Malta. My family is moving from Germany to Malta at the end of this month and so I will be helping with the move and exploring the Island a little bit. How exciting?! It’s the first time they are moving “big time” without me, as I am fully established and loving (yep, heard it right) Zurich right now. We’ve actually moved quite a few times (be it house, apartment, city or country), that I lost count. Nevertheless, visiting the family every couple of weeks in sunny Malta is something I surely cannot complain about in the future.

Here is a snapshot of a dinner I made a while ago with some chicken, a good’ol salad and my delicious salsa sauce. The recipe to the salsa was posted a little earlier here. I actually received a couple of things (make-up; yay!) the past days and wanted to share a little bit of it with you. Now the only thing keeping me from doing that is the cloudy weather (horrible lightning), and of course, my busy schedule. Latest on the weekend, though, I promised myself to take some pictures! I am actually so OCD that I couldn’t open the packages yet, because I don’t want them to look opened up already :’). So stay tuned on that one! xo

Sunday is a Salad Night

0 Permalink

Happy Sunday guys! The week has passed enormously fast, once again. Luckily, the weather has been incredible this weekend and, since I my studies only start next week again, I’ve been out and about the whole day. I started my Saturday morning with a relaxed two-hour brunch and some great conversations at Café des Amis here in Zurich. It was the first time I went, thanks to the introduction of a friend, and I must say it surely is lovely. Due to the good weather the place was full however, and we sat inside instead. Though the food was good (and my friends food looked amazing), they were a little inflexible with regards to my allergies. Is it such a big deal to make scrambled eggs fresh without any lactose (milk)? Nevertheless, my two fried eggs and avocado were good!

After a swim-workout at the Hallenbad (swimming pool in Zurich) I met up with a friend in the afternoon, strolled through the city, sat in the sun over some drinks and went for sushi afterwards. He introduced me to Sora Sushi, right at the main train station (Hauptbahnhof), where they have all-you-can-eat specials on the weekend. Trust me when I say I really did eat all I could – rolling out of the place satisfied! The best part here was, that it not only was delicious, but there was no limitation on the amounts of sashimi you could order. If you know me, I really like sushi (Maki especially), though love sashimi! An elderly couple next to us most likely hated us for a short amount of time, though, as we took all the salmon sashimi off the conveyor belt one time: :’) We did give them the next rounds, though!

With all the eating yesterday, today will be rather light. I love making a quick salad in the evenings, which doesn’t leave you feeling like you are rolling-around yet still fills you enough until its time for bed. Speaking off, I will try to eat a little earlier today and will walk off to the kitchen soon. How did you spend your weekend? xo
