Malta Memories

Back in Zurich and already missing my mini-vacation-vibes. Malta was filled with work, moving, unpacking boxes and – sun. Especially the last few days I was able to fully calm down and relax. It was really needed. I’m not sure if you know this – but I kept on hearing my ringtone and my phone getting messages, even when it wasn’t ringing or making any noises? I guess it was my body telling me that I need a break. And so I did. It took me about two days to fully level myself and calm down but it surely helped. I got my hair done (just the roots  and a trim), went to get my nails done, did a little shopping trip, and fully relaxed in the evenings over some good food and wine. Wednesday morning I flew directly to London for business, which is why, my update lacked majorly. Like I’ve said, things have become a little heavy the past few weeks and the times that I actually had “nothing” to do I tried to enjoy – and catch up on sleep! Friday evening I landed back in Zurich. Oh, I love coming home. As much as I travel, coming home to my own bed (let’s be honest – everyone loves their own bed) and my own full closet was heartwarming. I saw my friends and my bestie yesterday, went to a house/pool party and enjoyed the full afternoon and night (after finishing my course project earlier in the morning).

Today has been similarly relaxing. I tried to really not stress myself with anything – slept in, indulged in some (gluten free) pretzels and made myself a small brunch. The afternoon was filled with a sun-bathing session outside the city swimming pool and followed by my routine 1km swim. It feels so good to get back into routine! Now I’m lying on my couch watching the final match. Whom are you supporting, Portugal or France? I really can’t choose, because neither teams are MY teams. Yet, I do have a tendency towards Portugal! After the game I’ll surely jump into bed though, as the next days will be busy with work and I need to catch up on 2 weeks not being in the office. Joy!

Have a lovely Sunday evening! xo

Banana Bread Breakfasts

Happy Friday! Ahh… the week has gone by so fast – almost too fast! I still have so many things on my agenda to finish and it doesn’t look like I’ll finish by tonight. In fact,  I am packed until Sunday evening. Only to start off to a new week on Monday. Especially on busy days like these I am a true believer in having great breakfasts. In the morning I always have the feeling I need to get as many vitamins and nutritions as possible to kick-start the day off in the best way possible.

This morning I started my day with some workouts – it feels so good! I admit I am not the biggest fan of working out in the morning right after waking up. In general, I am not the biggest morning person until I have had my breakfast – then it’s all fine again. :-) If I don’t do my workouts in the morning though, I don’t do it at all it seems. I don’t really have the time over lunch (especially if lunch meetings intervene) and in the evening I normally am too exhausted to work out and if I do workout, then I can’t sleep for ages. So I’ve started doing workouts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays – finishing my third week now. Wohoo – let’s keep the motivation going (yes, clearly trying to motivate myself)!

Back to my favorite topic though: my breakfasts. I am still in love with this banana bread – especially in combination with one of my favorites, avocado, and here, an actual banana. I eat one fruit every morning, usually banana or an apple – sometimes even both. I have posted the recipe for this gluten and dairy free banana bread recently here.

My day today is packed with work, meetings, coffee (meeting too), and some personal projects in the evening after work, which I will update you about in the next days! So I don’t think I’ll come home anytime before 10 or 11pm tonight it seems. Another reason to have a great breakfast (and lunch, as I might not be able to squeeze in dinner today)! Wishing you all a great Friday for now and a great weekend to come! xo

Beauty Talk : Beach Tan

0 Permalink

Happy Friday everyone! I found this webcam image on my computer and thought I’d share it with you. I get a lot of questions from people (also when out shopping), if I was on vacation. In fact, I wasn’t – however, I was in a 2min tan-shower and I believe the price is so worth it. I started the spray-tan late last year, first time round in November I believe it was. I absolutely love it now. The photo is from one of my first times – so actually I’m not even quite that tanned anymore, as I chose a slightly lighter shade to make it look more natural. I remember in the beginning I wasn’t all too sure and was much darker – it really didn’t fit my natural skin tone, nor my hair color. This photo is actually not all too correct – the lightning isn’t natural and my tan looks darker than it usually is. I’ll share another tanned one with you soon, though!

I’m usually the white bread between everyone else – literally, I am so pale in winter. This way I look much healthier and well, just like I came back from holiday. The best thing, I almost feel like I just had a short holiday when I come back from my spray tanning session. I do it around about every 10 days, sometimes stay pale in between though. So far I’ve done it in Kaarst (Germany) once but generally I go BeautySpace right near the main station in Zurich. It’s the most practical when I finish work – I jump into my short shower and then head back home.

Before trying spray-tan the first time I highly recommend you to read the before & after instructions. A good peeling the day before is a must and you shouldn’t use any perfume or body lotions on the day of the spray. So far I have only tried out the clear-spray, meaning the tan slowly comes after 6-8 hours. I usually just put on a bathrobe at home (don’t wear satin or do anything to make you sweat!) and lie down. It’s my lazy evening of the week – it’s great! Upon awakening I am a new me – a tanned me. I always feel so much more relaxed all of the sudden.

Not only does it look pretty: it feels pretty. Can something even feel pretty? What I’m trying to say is that the spray-tan literally hydrates the skin. Since I want the tan to hold as long as possible I tend to cream my body much more the days after, which gives even more hydration to the skin. A must-do when it’s cold outside and the skin is longing for some water re-fills. Secondly, I barely need any make-up. The make-up I usually wore in winter (foundation and whatnot) was basically to cover up the paleness – not needed anymore! All I need is my mascara, some bronze powder and/or rouge and voila, I’m done within 10 minutes in the morning. Which is amazing, since I also love sleeping in as long as possible.
