Surely cannot post about last minute gifts for her (see last post), without giving some ideas for him, right?
Well, without any further due, here is a list of ideas what you can gift to your significant other, father, brother, best friend, uncle, etc.
My two absolute favorites are most likely the whiskey glas set and the espresso glas cups – a cute present and something stylish for the home. And who doesn’t love a sneaker cleaning kit?
water bottle, keeping your drinks cold for up to 24h, warm for up to 12h; find it here
The gifting season is just around the corner and once again I receive all so many questions. Most of them sounding somewhat like “What do you want for Christmas?” or “Any idea what I can gift my mom/sister/best friend for Christmas?” It’s definitely not easy – especially when you wan to gift a little something, say thank you and come to the party with more than just a smile. Yet, that is exactly what most people want: people being happy, thankful, and most all – healthy. Remember that gifts do not need to cost anything, can be made yourself (there are some great DIY ideas out there) and some people really don’t expect anything.
If you still feel that you want to gift a little something, however, I have made a small list below ranging from low budget prices to higher pricing – and I can guarantee you will surely find one idea that everyone might like!
“In der Weihnachtsbäckerei, gibt es manche Leckerei, …” does anyone know this German Christmas song? I was in Germany, Ingolstadt (near Munich), this past weekend to see most of the family. My uncle turned 50 last week so everyone came together and we had some wonderful times there. My grandma listened to this German song in the car when they drove down from the north of the country to meet us. She had it stuck in her head the whole weekend and kept on reminding me that it used to be my all-time favourite Christmas song when I was younger. Fact is, I still do very much love it. It really brings back memories from when I was a child, baking and decorating cookies with my grandparents, mom and sister. I loved it. I still very much do love baking – which is why this season is one of my favourites when it comes to making dishes in the kitchen. It’s the perfect excuse for baking cookies and cakes. For cooking warm, hearty and stomach-filling foods. For drinking a glass of wine in the evening and ending the night with a hot chocolate and a marshmallow. And that is exactly what my boyfriend and I did last night – we took a rather semi-spontaneous trip down to the kitchen and made ourselves some hot chocolate. Amazing. Thank god we had some lactose free milk on hand!
This upcoming week should be rather calm at the office, which is nice. There is still loads to do, especially before the holidays start, but it’s not as filled in regards to events and outside meetings. I do have to get up super early tomorrow, though, to attend a 8am presentation. Way too early for me. Good thing is, with the sun setting so early and the sky darkening so quickly, I go to bed rather early these days. Especially after this weekend I will need to catch up on some sleep again during the week. I might be travelling this weekend on a spontaneous note, too – but the plan right now is that we will stay in Zurich and enjoy another weekend here before I leave to Malta again next week. Maybe I can bake a few more cookies on the weekend? There is always some kind of excuse and I’m sure I’ll find another one if needed this weekend, too. Besides, who needs an excuse for baking cookies? xo
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely start into 2016 and will continue to rock it! My NYE was amazingly peaceful, at home on the couch with a special someone and I for once did not have to worry about pleasing anyone with food recipes, cocktails, outfits or partying. It enabled me to start the new year on a quiet note and gave me the opportunity to actually be productive within the first days of January. This is rather rare as the past years have been a little more hectic, involved parties or definelty much longer nights and as most of you probably, it meant I was dead the next day.
The first weekend of the new year started with me trying to figure out my agenda for 2016. Yes, that is for the full year. Obviously I have not finished it all, but I have a quite good understanding of where I need to be at what times (speaking of family celebrations and round birthdays coming up). Some of my business trips are already sorted out and I think at the end of this month I will have an even better understanding of any larger upcoming trips. This enables me to plan my private time more, as with studies still going on this year and all other things, friends and loved ones can easily fall behind if I don’t plan well. Luckily, I am a huge lover of planning and also spontaneous when the timing matches.
As you might remember I mentioned wanting to plan ahead a bit more in regards to the blog. I’ve done exactly that. No, I have not planned every post for this upcoming year (is that even possible?), but I have already picked out important dates for certain categories and will try and bring a little more structure into it. With all these little dates and plans, I really only hope that I actually manage it all. I tend to trying to be a perfectionist and often get moody if I don’t achieve everything. There goes another resolution: I need to let things flow, take them as they come and not panic if I don’t manage something perfectly in time (given that I have the possibility to be flexible). Next up I want to try and set some dates for vacations this year – I really want to travel more! Any suggestions of what’s a must-see this year?
Whilst trying to plan my 2016, one of my Christmas presents I received from my parents came in perfect timing. I received a new Mont Blanc (Meisterstück), which I must admit – is a heaven to write with. It flows so easily over the paper that it almost becomes fun. In general, I find that writing by hand relaxing from time to time and see that most people do it less and less. I have sworn myself to write Holiday and Birthday cards to all special people in my life – and have done it the past years. Who doesn’t love receiving a card on their special day, or a sweet postcard on a random note? I always get excited when opening the mail and not receiving a bill for once in a while.
With that, I’ll turn to continuing my structuring of 2016 today. I have quite a busy day ahead in the office and need to get quite a bit done before I get my tonsils taken out tomorrow morning. Wohoo – isn’t that exciting! I really wish I had done it earlier and would be done and over with it now. Lessen learnt, I’ll have them removed when I’m younger in my next life! With that, I wish you a wonderful rest of the week. xo
Merry Christmas loves! I hope that everyone had a lovely start into the holidays so far and is enjoying the time with loved ones, family and friends. This time of the year is one of my absolute favorites – it’s all about spending the time together with the family, spendng cozy nights in and having good food. Growing up in European countries, I am used to celebrating especially on Christmas Eve, the night of the 24th. It was all about enjoying the family yesterday for us, unpacking presents and filling out stomachs with lots of food.
It is first year that the family (mom, dad, sis and dog) are spending Christmas at my place in Zurich – and I love it. Seriously, we might need to repeat that next year. The years before were amazing too, of course – with lots of family around (aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents). However, this year we decided to make it small and cuddly. It was amazing. For dinner I made potatoe-maroni puree, added beef filets on top (meat done by dad), topped with glazed apples, differently colored carots and lots of onions made in a red wine sauce. The dessert, hours later – cause we were all too full from the main dish – was berry crumble with vanilla ice cream for the rest. The recipe was amazing, so I shall surely make that again, photograph it and blog about it. Right now though, I cannot see any more food heavy food. Tonight will thankfully be more or less back normal with a lovely mushroom risotto my mom will be making. Tomorrow is Thai evening with chicken and yellow curry – one of my favorite dishes currently.
I will also show you some of the presents in the next few posts coming up. I love them all! What did you get – how did you spend your holiday? Wishing you all a continuing lovely holiday, lots of love, health and happiness! xo
