Team Bride!

Ahhh – how exciting are these news! Ok, let me rewind. My best (like seriously best best) friend Virginia is getting married next year and I am so, so excited for her! A few days ago I opened the post and received a little package that I really couldn’t get my head around. I had not gone online shopping (for once!) and I did not expect anything from anyone. When I opened it I found this super cute little notebook from Sloane Stationery with a bee (!!!) on it. Ok, those that know me, know that I am OBSESSED with bees. So I fell in love with this little notebook before I knew what it even was. When I saw the note, I almost fainted from excitement.

How cute is this? Seriously! I am now officially a part of the Team Bride and I could not be happier! What this means? I’ve got a VIP status at the wedding. Obviously (not). The cutest thing is, that all of her best / close friends received a small little notebook like mine – but each one has a different color and/or slogan on it. There are so many cute ones and she really did get the most perfect ones for each friend! Another friend received one that said “Little Miss Organised” – and if you knew that friend, trust me, you would totally agree that it’s the perfect fit!

Of course, I will keep you all updated on what happens and some photos of the wedding (if allowed by the bride) or wedding details once the time has come. Ugh, super excited! :)

Iggys at the Office

Good morning! Today I will be working from home – always super nice! – as my little baby (Zaphira) is undergoing surgery right now. It isn’t all too dramatic, though. They will be removing both dew claws (? “Wolfskralle” in German) at her front feet. She has so often gotten stuck with them somewhere outside and either nearly or fully pulled them out that it has ended bloody several times. Again, nothing to worry about, but because we have this issue every couple of months my vet and I decided it may be best to removing them.

I will surely be updating you on how she is doing post-surgery!

Yesterday I had Fridolin (the Italian Greyhound of friends) visit Zaphira and myself at the office for an hour. Such a cutie! I remember when he was a puppy and even smaller than Zaphira – now, he already outgrew her! Fridolin will actually be coming over again today and staying until Sunday. His parents are attending an event and we will have the cutie plus our two fluffy loves at home. 3 dogs! I’m sure it will be an interesting and the most cuddly weekend in a while!

Selfies

Helloo and welcome back! That is more thrown to myself than you – I have the feeling time is flying by waaay too fast at the moment and I am seriously lacking updates on all sides and levels. And even missing out everywhere? That is, even some of my friends are already complaining that I am barely available anymore (which is not the norm considering I am online or on my phone 24/7). Nonetheless, I am far from complaining. Life is good to me – seriously. I landed in Miami Wednesday night and have been more or less running errands since then. I did catch 2h of sun today though (for those that saw it on snapchat @stylephantom).

With Friday being more or less over and me still being at the office (not working anymore though), I only have tomorrow left to explore the city a bit. Which is more or less impossible. From what I have seen though, this is a great city. It has everything. Similar to Cayman, the temperatures are a dream-come-true. The worst about coming home – as much as I love it – is that winter basically already started. From what I hear, people have already unpacked their winter clothes and are walking around in fur-jackets. Can you imagine? It’s still October!

I’ve tried updating you guys more or less via snapchat and instagram (@laurananette) the past days to not be too absent, though still have quite a bit of content left to share with you. Before I bore you with forever-long-texts, though, I thought I’d share a few snap-selfies with you and give a quick heads-up that I am still alive (and loving life). I promise to give a better update and share some better pictures soon. Now I will once more stare at the art pieces here at the office (seriously, my colleagues have amazing taste – you might have seen a glance on my snaps / I feel so at home here) and then most likely go to bed early. I have been going to bed at around 10-11pm every night now, which is super early compared to my usual routine, and woken up before my alarm clock (if any). I actually get work stuff done before heading to the office or going for breakfast. And you know what? It feels great. I am so productive! Let’s see if I can keep that routine going after jetlag hits me once more next week (arriving back in Zurich on Monday)!

Also, it almost looks as if I cut my hair shorter (long-bob / blob style) in the first picture. I’m really digging it – but so indecisive. Thoughts?

PS. I also updated my ‘wish-list’ on the right-hand-side. Seriously, how pretty is that LV bag? I can’t get over it.

Gotta-Catch-Them-All

I admit it: I did it. As soon as I finished my last final course project last week Thursday, I downloaded Pokémon GO Friday during lunch. The fever hit me – I gotta catch them all. No but honestly, the game brings back so many fun childhood memories. It’s incredible. I don’t have time to run around all the time and I still do got to work. However, I did notice myself walking the one or other longer way to get to a destination – carried by the hope that I’d see another Pokémon on the go. Want to catch a Pikachu right away? Wait a little while before trying to catch your first (out of 3 optional) ones, throw around a few balls and voila – Pikachu will be at your feet. It might sound super childish – and I admit it is – but I really do love the game. Neverthless, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is a hype. Let’s see how long it stays that way.

During the week I don’t have much time either way – though today during the lunch I walked around a bit before getting food and – yes, I’m loving it – caught a few more Pokémon. The upcoming days will be rather stressful though. I’ve got a few meetings coming up tomorrow, need to fly to London Wednesday (just for the day), got more meetings in Zurich on Thurday (plus celebrating a colleagues birthday), and a few more things to do on Friday. Then, finally, I have a week off. August 1st (Monday) will be off anyway, as we have a national holiday here. Tuesday-Friday next week I took off – I want to calm down a bit (use my way-too-many vacation days) and: paint! I finally ordered new materials and want to work on two large paintings again – one for the bedroom ,one for the living room. I’ve got quite a few ideas, and two concrete ones, though I need to fine-tune them and decide on how it will (more or less) look like in the end. Since I work a bit more abstract, I can’t plan it all too much, anyway.

Now that it’s raining and I don’t have to work on any uni stuff for the next two weeks, my evening will entail starting a new book and maybe some TV. Very relaxing! What are your plans for the week? The weather in Zurich is a catastrophe right now – its seriously pissing outside! xoIMG_6945
