Organizing my life with the GoodNotes App

A good overview of all my to-dos, tasks, reports that need to be done are essential to keeping my life organized. I have always been a huge, huge fan of making to-do lists for almost everything. Be it for scheduling when and what I want to blog about next, what tasks I need to do at home (from washing to cleaning the bathroom sinks), what my travel plan will look like the upcoming weeks or months, or simply writing down ideas I get on the go.

Finally, after searching forever and trying out multiple apps, I have found the one: GoodNotes. I have been testing it for a while now and I am more than happy with it. For me, it’s important to be able to hand-write my notes. It gives me that warm tingly feeling of still being old-school haha. Also, it makes the writing down and crossing off tasks so, so much more fun. On the other hand, I am also a huge fan of having everything digitalised. That is, because I am always on the go and it is super practical to having the same notes on my iPad, my iPhone, my iMac (office and at home) or even my laptop (yes, I am an Apple fan!).

The app also allows me to work “offline” – or so it feels. I can sit down, away from my actual desk to write down notes and brainstorm certain topics, and still have it immediately show up on my iMac when turning around or going back to the desk. Especially now with the new macOS Catalina update, I can easily connect my iPad to my iMac or laptop. That is probably the best new feature the macOS Catalina treated us with! You can so easily write on your iPad now and have it immediately transferred to your computer (think about all those documents that you need to sign off on or when you want to annotate a PDF but still hand-write!). Anyway, before I drift off..

The GoodNotes app includes the following features (reason enough why I love them):
– possibility to hand-write notes, etc.
– can open several notebooks with different paper formats and styles
– possibility to easily switch between the notebooks (ex. I always have my meeting notes open, as well as my to-do lists and conference notes when on a business trip)
– possibility to search through your notes (it even recognises your hand-written notes!)
– able to type directly if you don’t want to use the iPad pen
– synchronises easily via Dropbox
– allows you to annotate PDFs, Powerpoints, Images, etc.
– inexpensive (8CHF for the iPad/iPhone and another 8CHF for my iMac is what I paid)

For those that have been looking for an app that can do all these things – the GoodNotes app really is a game changer!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful start into 2017! We have exactly 361 days left this year, to make it our greatest – what’s the plan? I’m out and about a lot this year and will try to tick off all my goals within the next months. First and far most, however, I need to write (well, start) and finish my master thesis. Joy. New Year’s Eve was amazing by the way – we had a house party at my bfs place with another 14-15 people. We had some great food, bubbly wine and a whole lot of fun. Luckily, I had Monday off and was able to get my energy back – ready for the new year at work. Yesterday started rather calm at the office. I organised quite a bit and tried to read through all the emails that piled up over the last few days. Today is seems, is the real start. I’ll be out for a business lunch and am jumping right back into a few large projects that were slightly on hold due to holidays.

I also wanted to share these photos with you my sister took of me in Malta two weeks ago. It’s incredible how warm it was there compared to the weather here. It’s freezing now, a bit snowy and it seems we are still far away from spring. These photos were taken at the Dingli Cliffs. Wherever you looked, you saw nature’s beauty. The cliffs are breathtaking. Yet, what really struck me, were these cute little stone houses (?), which were quite frankly fully falling apart. I am not sure what it was, but I assume they used to be some sort of shelters for farmers when the weather turned bad all of the sudden? Either way, the fact that they were so tiny and, quite frankly, broken down – yet had No Entry & Private written all over – made them especially cute. I had to take a few photos there. It’s a great contrast to the rather fresh velvet trend that everyone is going on about. Well, same here. I love love love velvet. Here, I am wearing my velvet pants from Zara (a few years old), a velvet body also from Zara (this season), and my adidas originals (which are so dirty they must be thrown out, soon). The sunnies are from Dior. What are your thoughts on velvet – keep or throw for 2017?

Apple: Bigger, Better, Gold

It’s really no surprise at all: I am a huge Apple-Fan – an Apple freak, almost. It also isn’t too surprising that Apple would again take our breaths away and make us speachless with the power of innovation. Yes, there is a new iPhone, yes, there are two iPhones, yes, the payment method is forever changed, yes, Apple again has changed a way of living (think iTunes!), yes, it’s as stylish as ever. But what really took my breath away, is the Watch. Let’s face it, it might not be a surprise that one was presented, but: the features and the extend of this new innovation are mindblowing. Never, in my wildest dreams (and I can dream, like no other) did I imagine any of this.

The Watch is not only so super stylish – have you seen the rose gold edition?! – but so, so cool. My words are currently failing and all I can say is: I am so excited for 2015 and the release of this new iBaby (ha, new word!). I won’t go into all the innovate features one NEEDS to know, because I would bet most of you have either seen the videos, seen the pictures, read about it or been on Apple by this time. I must admit I was a tinsy, tiny, little bit worried, that the Watch might not be as stylish. Might not work with all outfits – think the business outfit vs. the weekend-slumber look (still, stylish). But how wrong was I: Apple obviously thought every detail through. Not only will they release different colors of the Watch, but also the bands are available in different materials, different colors and can be switched depending on the outfit, the mood or the activity. Think about it: one in black, one in steel, one out of leather for the weekend and a rubber one for the gym. It’s seems so classy, so timeless, yet it is still on-top of all digital-smart-watches on the market. I am absolutely impressed – as always. So yes, I will surely put some money aside for this beauty coming up early in 2015!

Let’s not forget the iPhone 6 (and 6 plus), though! I am not sure of what to think of the large edition, as it seems almost like an iPad mini to me – size wise, but I guess that is everyones own taste and opinion. What really blew my mind, as previously touched upon, is the new payment method coming along with the newly integrated chip. Apple pay is similar like itunes. itunes has changed our way of buying music – we barely go into shops anymore to buy CDs – or do you? I cannot think of anyone buying music regularly, not having an itunes account. Apple pay has the same potentials in my eyes. Who needs credit cards and coins in the future, when one can pay everything with a highly secured chip in the phone that is activated with their own fingerprint. I doubt that we will say goodbye to coins in the next few years. But give it a thought – if all new paying technologies are updated to work with Apple Pay, there really will be no more need one day for coins. Consequences? Well, shopping-addicts that loose sight and control of their savings (due to not having actual paper in their hands), well, might shop even more. Good for the industry, good for the closet and a hell-of-a-good practice for self-control.

Last but no least, for all those not wanting to buy the iPhone 6, not being able to afford it immediately or those just wanting to wait for another year or two (I will most likely keep my iPhone 5S another year), can upgrade to iOS 8. I used to get super bored of my smartphones before owning my first iphone (my first one being the iPhone 2).  Since the iPhone, no boredom arises – ever. It’s so simple, yet so brilliant. With these amazing updates, I always feel like holding a brand new phone in my hands. Of course, I am also super excited for this new iOS 8 update coming out (most likely September 17, 2014).

Now my next question is: Will there be a new iPad presented this year, too? I guess the above easily shows how quickly (too quickly, maybe) I am amazed by these innovate, new, technological, yet classy and super-stylish products coming out soon. Below find a few screenshots from the Apple Website, of my favorite parts. What are you most excited about, if anything?
