Organizing your iPhone Apps

Happy Sunday! What a week it’s been again! I was in London Monday till Thursday for business and attended a two-day conference. The flight back and forth was rather calm – I usually sleep the whole flight! I did manage to stay awake though, both times, for roughly 20 minutes. Whilst listening to a podcast, I used the time wisely and decided it’s time to “clean up” and re-organize my iPhone apps.

As you can perfectly see – it was the perfect chaos! I mean I did know where everything was that I always use and need. Yet, I almost pushed this task to another day and with more and more time passing the look of my iPhone really started to bother me. I decided to not only re-organize the apps, but also to delete everything I have not used in a year and what I surely don’t need anymore.

Now, I do have quite a few apps I rarely use, though needed to keep. These are usually business related, and include logins that are needed for certain banks. Those, of course, I had to keep.

I wanted a clean look. I decided that no more than 12 apps should be shown on each iPhone screen, and I did not want more than 3 iPhone screen pages (is that the right word?). The first slide is the apps I use on a regular basis – and those I cannot live without. The second slide of apps I use almost everyday, though not as often. The third slide is all the rest that I don’t use as frequently but need either for business reasons or simply just apps I like having but the usage of is rare.

This was the final outcome:

Slide 1 – as you can see, is now clean and has the most important apps for me
Slide 2 is likewise clean and has important apps I use every few days. Slide 3 has allays that I still use once in a while but not as frequent.

To all those that have not yet organized their iPhone (or I guess same thing goes for Android?), I highly recommend it. Not only is it super satisfying, but also so much more efficient in the daily use.

I have seen some people organize all apps by color. Although I do love the look of it, I did not find it practical. I actually tried it for page one, but really, it made it worse for me to try and find apps. So this solution worked much better for me!

Malta Memories

Back in Zurich and already missing my mini-vacation-vibes. Malta was filled with work, moving, unpacking boxes and – sun. Especially the last few days I was able to fully calm down and relax. It was really needed. I’m not sure if you know this – but I kept on hearing my ringtone and my phone getting messages, even when it wasn’t ringing or making any noises? I guess it was my body telling me that I need a break. And so I did. It took me about two days to fully level myself and calm down but it surely helped. I got my hair done (just the roots  and a trim), went to get my nails done, did a little shopping trip, and fully relaxed in the evenings over some good food and wine. Wednesday morning I flew directly to London for business, which is why, my update lacked majorly. Like I’ve said, things have become a little heavy the past few weeks and the times that I actually had “nothing” to do I tried to enjoy – and catch up on sleep! Friday evening I landed back in Zurich. Oh, I love coming home. As much as I travel, coming home to my own bed (let’s be honest – everyone loves their own bed) and my own full closet was heartwarming. I saw my friends and my bestie yesterday, went to a house/pool party and enjoyed the full afternoon and night (after finishing my course project earlier in the morning).

Today has been similarly relaxing. I tried to really not stress myself with anything – slept in, indulged in some (gluten free) pretzels and made myself a small brunch. The afternoon was filled with a sun-bathing session outside the city swimming pool and followed by my routine 1km swim. It feels so good to get back into routine! Now I’m lying on my couch watching the final match. Whom are you supporting, Portugal or France? I really can’t choose, because neither teams are MY teams. Yet, I do have a tendency towards Portugal! After the game I’ll surely jump into bed though, as the next days will be busy with work and I need to catch up on 2 weeks not being in the office. Joy!

Have a lovely Sunday evening! xo

Summer Tatt’s

It’s summer and all I do is partayy! Of course I’m kidding – as much as I would love to constantly be running from pool party to pool party, the reality looks quite a bit different. Work and uni are steady and need lots of input, yet, the weekends are fully mine. I’ve been going to summer parties here in Zurich the past weeks, every weekend and really loving it. Now, if I have noticed one thing we cannot miss out on this summer, it’s the shiny summer tattoos. Both silver and gold tattoos are now part of my collection for these hot summer days, though I (of course) love myself some more gold.

Now this really shouldn’t be an excuse, but – can summer be one when it comes to dragging here on the blog? I know I owe you guys quite a few updates and more regular content, so I will try my best. Hold on and bare with me (and excuse the iPhone photo quality), as these past weeks and upcoming 2 are quite full in my agenda! Have a lovely week, xo

Welcome to the Family

I love technology – could one have guessed? Obviously. This new MacBook Air is now officially part of my Apple family – I cannot get over how pretty and how light it is. I love having a laptop again. I gave my “old” MacBook Pro to my sister almost a year ago, thinking I don’t really need one anymore. How wrong was I? Fair enough, I only started getting active with my blog around one year ago again and I do have all other necessities to blog at home (iPad, iMac, etc..). Now that I have officially started studying again (yup!), all whilst working, I really needed a laptop again. It is just so much easier when traveling, and of course, it was the perfect excuse to buy a laptop for being able to blog when on the go. I took ages to decide whether to go for the Air or the Pro, but in the end, I like having things light. I tend to carry around way too much stuff with me already, and who needs a drive nowadays anyway, when everything is done via USB or SD cards. :-)

I’m actually still in Düsseldorf – practically, I can work from anywhere if I have a laptop (finally do again!) and Internet. I wanted to leave yesterday already but the 7 hour drive was just too much after having driven already 7 hours here on Friday. I decided to stay a day longer and enjoy the family time a bit more (when not answering emails or calls) and will leave tomorrow morning back to Zurich. I could stay here much longer if I could – my mom cooks amazingly, I have a bed, I can (kind of) sleep in because I can work from home and don’t need to rush to the office. However, I do have meetings coming up Wednesday onwards and will be back in Geneva on Friday – no time for taking time off. Then again, I’m flying into vacation next week Friday already! I am SO excited :-)! My best friend and I booked a hotel in Oman (here it is, I couldn’t keep it a secret any longer!) and we will be diving twice a day for 5 days straight. It will be amazing – and I cannot wait for the summery temperatures. Finally I can wear a bikini again! Have any of you been to Oman before – any must-see places I need to visit? We will have a day or two in Muscat (city) so we will be exploring the culture as much as possible in those hours.

Now that I’ve taken my little lunch break – off I go continuing my work. xo

Route Natural

0 Permalink

Happy Sunday my lovely readers – & Happy International Women’s Day! I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend so far – I surely did! I drove to Düsseldorf (Germany) on Friday afternoon to visit the family and have been doing so ever since. Yesterday was pretty relaxed – I went to the hairdresser and we enjoyed the evening at home. Today we spent the whole day in Maastricht (Netherlands), which was absolutely incredible. The weather is amazing – it feels just like spring! Back to my hair now – I am slowly but surely hitting the Route to Natural. I normally always add more highlights or at least get these freshened up. This time round I actually colored my roots much darker than the blonde I am used to – it’s quite close to my natural hair color. I was shocked to be honest. I knew my hair color was quite dark, but this dark? I fell out of my blonde heaven once I saw it and I am still only, slowly getting used to it. I surely love the color, and I love the fact that it’s got the ombre effect – I was able to keep my blonde on the bottom. However, as much as I like it, I still feel awkward and just not like myself when I look into the mirror.. Let’s see if I get used to it!

In regards to the actual coloring – I love my hairdresser here in Düsseldorf. She does an amazing job with whatever I request from her. Be it dark, going towards natural or all the way blonde because I cannot do without it. I am sure she will have to help me go blonde again at some point – I am just such a blonde-love. However, for now I will try to get used to it and actually keep it for a while. It’s just better for my hair if I give it some time to regrow and not bleach it on a constant.

What do you think about the darker hair?

My hairdresser is called Aspasia – she is absolutely great at what she does! You can ask for an appointment with her at the hairdresser Andreas Kohlhoff by calling 0211 8632007 (Germany).

Oh – and sorry for the iPhone quality only, it’s the only camera I had at hand :-). Wishing you all a great start into the week tomorrow! xo

ps. I don’t quite know why my photos are shown turned-around on some devices – will need to get that one fixed!
