Organizing my life with the GoodNotes App

A good overview of all my to-dos, tasks, reports that need to be done are essential to keeping my life organized. I have always been a huge, huge fan of making to-do lists for almost everything. Be it for scheduling when and what I want to blog about next, what tasks I need to do at home (from washing to cleaning the bathroom sinks), what my travel plan will look like the upcoming weeks or months, or simply writing down ideas I get on the go.

Finally, after searching forever and trying out multiple apps, I have found the one: GoodNotes. I have been testing it for a while now and I am more than happy with it. For me, it’s important to be able to hand-write my notes. It gives me that warm tingly feeling of still being old-school haha. Also, it makes the writing down and crossing off tasks so, so much more fun. On the other hand, I am also a huge fan of having everything digitalised. That is, because I am always on the go and it is super practical to having the same notes on my iPad, my iPhone, my iMac (office and at home) or even my laptop (yes, I am an Apple fan!).

The app also allows me to work “offline” – or so it feels. I can sit down, away from my actual desk to write down notes and brainstorm certain topics, and still have it immediately show up on my iMac when turning around or going back to the desk. Especially now with the new macOS Catalina update, I can easily connect my iPad to my iMac or laptop. That is probably the best new feature the macOS Catalina treated us with! You can so easily write on your iPad now and have it immediately transferred to your computer (think about all those documents that you need to sign off on or when you want to annotate a PDF but still hand-write!). Anyway, before I drift off..

The GoodNotes app includes the following features (reason enough why I love them):
– possibility to hand-write notes, etc.
– can open several notebooks with different paper formats and styles
– possibility to easily switch between the notebooks (ex. I always have my meeting notes open, as well as my to-do lists and conference notes when on a business trip)
– possibility to search through your notes (it even recognises your hand-written notes!)
– able to type directly if you don’t want to use the iPad pen
– synchronises easily via Dropbox
– allows you to annotate PDFs, Powerpoints, Images, etc.
– inexpensive (8CHF for the iPad/iPhone and another 8CHF for my iMac is what I paid)

For those that have been looking for an app that can do all these things – the GoodNotes app really is a game changer!

All about that work

Good morning lovelies! It’s Thursday and I couldn’t be happier – the week has been great so far but I am simultaneously looking forward for the weekend. With it being Thursday, the weekend is just around the corner! Geneva on Tuesday was an absolute success – or at least, I surely had some positive meetings. Hopefully some business will form from that and the right connections have definetely been established. Now here is to my workspace: it’s simple, its more or less clean and currently organized. I admit, it isn’t always that organized – I manage to throw papers all over the place within a couple of hours if I start working from home. However, I still do try and clean it up as often as possible – I get frustrated when the chaos takes over..! Now here is the problem – I believe the mess comes from not having the surrounding ideally managed (meaning nice boxes, trays, whatever it takes). And it’s so simple at the moment, so clean – too clean. My mission is, ideally, to keep it simple, clean and fresh (lot’s of white), but I do want it a little more inspiring for when I sit down and throw some words on here.

Do you have any ideas on stylish organizing the desk? Surely, I always see those perfect desks on Pinterest and other websites – but is it just me or does everyone else only have one cup of coffe, one pen and one notepad on their desk? Honestly, I have a little bit more! I was also thinking about hanging up some larger photos above the iMac – preferably in black & white, maybe with a nice inspirational quote? I will try working on it this weekend if I find the time and I’ll make sure to share it with you afterwards. Until then, I am happy for any inspiration you guys have, seriously! :-)

Now I’m off to work and tonight I shall be at some kind of BBQ Opening Party at Kaufleuten (club in Zurich) with a friend. Friday is hopefully calm and Saturday it’s all about party! I might sneak into one of my favorite bookstores today over lunch to drewl over some inspirational art, interior, cooking and design books – since no meeting is planned for today (for once).

Till then, I wish you a great start into the day! xo

Welcome to the Family

I love technology – could one have guessed? Obviously. This new MacBook Air is now officially part of my Apple family – I cannot get over how pretty and how light it is. I love having a laptop again. I gave my “old” MacBook Pro to my sister almost a year ago, thinking I don’t really need one anymore. How wrong was I? Fair enough, I only started getting active with my blog around one year ago again and I do have all other necessities to blog at home (iPad, iMac, etc..). Now that I have officially started studying again (yup!), all whilst working, I really needed a laptop again. It is just so much easier when traveling, and of course, it was the perfect excuse to buy a laptop for being able to blog when on the go. I took ages to decide whether to go for the Air or the Pro, but in the end, I like having things light. I tend to carry around way too much stuff with me already, and who needs a drive nowadays anyway, when everything is done via USB or SD cards. :-)

I’m actually still in Düsseldorf – practically, I can work from anywhere if I have a laptop (finally do again!) and Internet. I wanted to leave yesterday already but the 7 hour drive was just too much after having driven already 7 hours here on Friday. I decided to stay a day longer and enjoy the family time a bit more (when not answering emails or calls) and will leave tomorrow morning back to Zurich. I could stay here much longer if I could – my mom cooks amazingly, I have a bed, I can (kind of) sleep in because I can work from home and don’t need to rush to the office. However, I do have meetings coming up Wednesday onwards and will be back in Geneva on Friday – no time for taking time off. Then again, I’m flying into vacation next week Friday already! I am SO excited :-)! My best friend and I booked a hotel in Oman (here it is, I couldn’t keep it a secret any longer!) and we will be diving twice a day for 5 days straight. It will be amazing – and I cannot wait for the summery temperatures. Finally I can wear a bikini again! Have any of you been to Oman before – any must-see places I need to visit? We will have a day or two in Muscat (city) so we will be exploring the culture as much as possible in those hours.

Now that I’ve taken my little lunch break – off I go continuing my work. xo

TGIF – its finally friday night, meaning: it’s time to enjoy some hours at the bar with my friends. I love going for a couple of drinks on fridays, as I can actually sleep-in tomorow. I apologize for the not-so-good quality of the photos, but how cool is this? I just found all those effects on Photobooth on my mac again (after years), and started playing around haha! I think the last time I did these was at least 6-7 years ago.

Wish you all a great, great friday evening! Lots of love, happiness and joy!
