Surely cannot post about last minute gifts for her (see last post), without giving some ideas for him, right?
Well, without any further due, here is a list of ideas what you can gift to your significant other, father, brother, best friend, uncle, etc.
My two absolute favorites are most likely the whiskey glas set and the espresso glas cups – a cute present and something stylish for the home. And who doesn’t love a sneaker cleaning kit?

The gifting season is just around the corner and once again I receive all so many questions. Most of them sounding somewhat like “What do you want for Christmas?” or “Any idea what I can gift my mom/sister/best friend for Christmas?” It’s definitely not easy – especially when you wan to gift a little something, say thank you and come to the party with more than just a smile. Yet, that is exactly what most people want: people being happy, thankful, and most all – healthy. Remember that gifts do not need to cost anything, can be made yourself (there are some great DIY ideas out there) and some people really don’t expect anything.
If you still feel that you want to gift a little something, however, I have made a small list below ranging from low budget prices to higher pricing – and I can guarantee you will surely find one idea that everyone might like!
Last week was my dads birthday. Since seemingly forever, one of his all-time favorite cakes is the so-called Linzertorte. My mom used to bake it for him every year at least once for his birthday; sometimes just in-between during the winter season. It’s also a traditional Christmas season cake in Germany. This year my dad was in Zurich for his birthday – mom joined, too. Because they arrived the night before his birthday, I decided to bake the cake a day before and surprised him in the morning with it and a lit candle.
Even though I am not the biggest fan of the cake, I must say it did go pretty well. The only thing I would note down for next time – the jam: it was too sweet for my taste. It really is important to find a good jam too add to the layer – or, make one yourself. Perhaps something I can do the next time around. For now, however, I wanted to share the recipe with you.
What you need
250 g soft butter / I used plant-based margarine
200 g brown sugar
2 medium-sized eggs
1 egg yolk
200 g grounded almonds
200 g flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
knife tip of clove powder
250 g of your favorite jam (I used raspberry – the traditional receipe idea)
What to do
1) In a large bowl, mix the butter with the eggs and sugar until nice and soft 2) add in the almonds, 200g of flour, cinnamon and clove powder – keep mixing 3) heat up the oven to 180°C 4) spread coconut oil (best to use a cooking paintbrush) all over the baking tin (diameter around 26 cm) 5) add ⅔ of the dough into the tin, spread it equally and add jam on top of it (leave 2 cm free towards the edge) 6) add in more flour to the ⅓ of dough – so much, until you have a thicker cookie-dough like mixture 7) spread this dough onto transparent film, roughly 0.5 cm high – and place it min. 45min into the fridge 8) once fully cooled down, take out the dough and cut it into long strips, around 1cm wide 9) you’re ready to now place them onto the jam in any weaving-style you want 10) once done, whisk up the egg yolk and brush it onto the dough (this prevents the cake from burning and turning too dark) 11) now off into the oven – 40 min straight baking
E voila – there you have it! You’re (perhaps) first Linzertorte! Actually easier than it looks on the photo, I swear!

Hello loves! I hope you all spent a wonderful Christmas with family, friends and or loved ones. We had a super chilled Christmas this year and even got some take-home sushi in the evening to not have to stress about cooking. It was amazing. We unpacked presents, all watching each other unpack and laughed a lot. Yesterday was rather relaxed, too. We went out for a lunch in the sun and I stayed home mostly after. It seems I am having an allergic reaction to my antibiotics – as my face and hands are burning and got a sunburn with barely any exposure to the sun. So annoying – especially as I usually love to warship the sun as soon as it comes out! So now I’ll give the doctor a call as soon as they are open this morning and see what they have to say. Otherwise, I guess I’ll have to stay in the shade and inside for a couple of days..
Either way, I thought I’d share this little outfit post with you guys. I don’t do a lot of OOTDs, as I barely ever find time for them next to work and studying. Arriving in Malta and doing absolutely nothing work- or study related for 2-3 days gave me the chance to take a couple of photos, though. So I’ll be able to share a few more of these with you soon! I forgot to bring my camera to Malta (how?!), but thankfully the iPhone quality has quite picked up and makes better quality photos than I thought!
I am basically wearing a complete Zara outfit. The camel coat, velvet body, and jeans skirt are from this season (perhaps still in store). The velvet ballerinas are from the beginning of summer, also Zara. I am also wearing my beloved, everyday Gucci bag and Dior sunnies – along with my Hermes bracelet and my (inherited) rings that I wear on the daily. I am especially in love with this coat – it seems to fit to everything. I know it’s been a trend-piece this whole year already and I am rather late with it in my collection, but I am so glad I bought it! Sadly it’s too cold in Zurich to wear at the moment, but at least I get the chance here in Malta – and then again in spring (whenever that arrives..).
Tonight we’re going to meet some friends and have dinner at their place. Should be lovely – I haven’t seen them since quite a few weeks now and it’s always most enjoyable to catch up!
On this oh-so-special day, I want to wish everyone (to those celebrating) a Merry Christmas! For some it may not be as spectacular anymore as we remember it back from our childhoods. Honestly, I feel its changed much in the last couple of years. This year I am in Malta, visiting my family. Although I love visiting them, and I enjoy the sun and rather warm temperatures during the day – it’s far from feeling Christmas-y. Nevertheless, we decided to not stress ourselves this year, just go with the flow, enjoy the quality time with the family, loved ones, and friends. We had friends over for a big lunch and are keeping dinner rather small and not so fatty (the body will thank!). Perhaps we will start opening up some presents tonight, maybe continue tomorrow. This year it’s really all about not stressing and enjoying the time off. It feels so nice to be able to sleep in and not worry about the business or anything else other than when it’s time to eat, sleep or go for a walk (with the dog)! With that, I wish everyone happy holidays and joyful, continuing weekend!
