All Black Errthang

Can you guess my favorite color? I know it’s nothing new and nothing majorly creative, but black is the one color that goes with seriously everything, works with (almost) every event and can be worn at any time of the day. I can’t believe I’m actually looking through online shops for autumn and winter clothes whilst lying around in a bikini everyday here in Cyprus. Yep, I’m still on vacation and I won’t deny it – I absolutely love this weather, and my tan is getting on quite well. I am cringing at the fact however, that I will arrive back in Zurich Sunday evening in almost freezing temperatures. Where has the summer gone all so fast? I’m really not ready for snow – and I’ve seen some of my friends post snow pictures already higher up in the mountains. Cringe. Seriously cringe. It isn’t even November yet!

However, here’s to something better – I found some great stuff online. Some, of which I will share with you here on Polyvore. I love black jeans, and although I might already have the one or other pair, I am a true believer of never having enough jeans. Quite frankly, I do sort and throw some out every other season when they are worn down and the fit isn’t as great anymore. I love these ones with ripped knees from topshop for aound 50$ only! In fact, all of the clothes – except the lovely gold accessories – are below 100$ each.

I used to not love turtle necks whatsoever. This season, for some reason, they totally hooked me. This one is perfect and you even get a 10% discount on your first order – screams for a fuller basket! These shoes are perfect for autumn, go with everything due to the color, and look super comfortable due to the slightly thicker heel. I just bought a similar pair already, which is the perfect fit for business as well as casual looks. I love buying clothes that I can not only wear in my free time, but also greatly combine during the week in the office or even when I have meetings. This coat is also perfect – it’s got the slight edgy feeling to it due to the leather, yet is sleek enough to wear over a blazer when off to the office. To finish the look and keep myself from freezing I love wearing scarves in autumn and winter. I’m really digging those thick knit pieces currently, so this one perfectly satisfies my taste.

Last, surely not least though, I love pepping up any outfit with some accessories. Especially black can quickly look dull or depressing if worn with no accessories at all – or even worse – without the right attitude. Attitude seriously is everything when it comes to fashion. You can pull off almost anything if you lift your chin in the right direction and throw out a bright-white smile once in a while. Match that with red lips and you’ve easily transformed the outfit for the evening. This Chanel bag has been on my wish-list for way too long. So I’ve finally decided to get one for myself – maybe already for Christmas. This one is actually a secondhand item, only worn once, yet from the price already much easier on the wallet than straight from the store. I’ll be searching a little more for the best one, though will most likely go for a secondhand one as well. The bracelet and earrings are pieces that will always work, every season, every year, for every occasion. Secondhand versions, for those that don’t want to, or can’t, burn a hole into their wallet can be found here and here. I personally love buying secondhand pieces if possible.

Now I’m off to dinner with the family! It’s BBQ night tonight, which means there will be lots and lots of fresh fish and meat from the grill – I’ll surely have problems again choosing what to take. With that, I wish you a great evening and rest of the week. xo

Gold Standards

Let’s speak gold for a minute. I love gold – mostly when it comes to my jewellery though. I used to only wear silver when I was younger, and although I still wear one ring and earrings from time to time, I have almost switched all to gold. It’s a gold standard, they say. There is something ultimately pure about it, so chic, and so delicate when wearing small items.

Although I have those rather chunky rings (from my grandmother and great-grandmother), I am getting to a point were I prefer the small, delicate statements. Nevertheless, a statement is always good. That is why I love the Kenzo tiger necklace (number 2), or the personalised necklace (number 3). I love those special gifts that are personalised, that not only show the love of the giver, but they are usually keepers. Or there are those love rings or love bracelets from Cartier (numbers 8 and 9) – that most likely any women would die over. Yet, that is one piece to receive as the ultimate love-gift, rather than going shopping by oneself. I don’t mind investing into classics (number 11), as they never go out of fashion. If you don’t like them tomorrow, wait a few days, months or years, and you will love them again. Which is why I am eyeing with a pair of Chanel earrings :’).

What are your favourite pieces? Wishing you a great Tuesday! xo

London Travels

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and a bit more sleep than I did – in fact, I did’t sleep at all yesterday and only took an hour long nap today. I’ll surely fall into bed early today! We went to a great openair yesterday up on a hill in Zürich (Uetliberg), continued in a club and then I stayed up the rest of the night talking to a friend. At 9 I jumped up to shower and got ready for a lovely brunch with two of my besties! But enough about my party weekend (I am so thankful tomorrow is a holiday!) – here is a little something from London last week.

I was in London from Monday to Friday for work and my days were literally packed with meetings, conferences and afterwork networking. Although it was super exhausting and I surely did not receive enough sleep, I absolutely love those days filled with meeting new people and establishing a broad network. My colleague and I tried to walk as much as possible from meeting to meeting when possible, which enabled me to discover some new parts of London again. I absolutely loved the Burlington Arcade – the shops are stunning to look at (sadly, I didn’t have much time to shop – except for some business blouses), and the Chanel perfume boutique was stunning to look at.

Next to all those lovely boutiques, which are seemingly missing in Zurich to some extend, I love the architecture in London. There are so many fusions of old and new – establishing a perfect balance of keeping the traditional buildings and establishing room for the new ones. We were so lucky with the weather as well! The first day was quite rainy, but the rest of the days were somewhat sunny and only a light coat was enough – luckily, because I had nothing else with me (coat wise).  I don’t want to ramble on – as I might be overly tired as well and write nonsense otherwise :-)

Wishing you all a great Sunday evening! xo

Simplistic Interior Inspiration

Happy Sunday! Can you believe the week is almost over, again? I’ll be picking up my parents from the airport today and this afternoon I’ll start driving down to Zurich again to make it in time before I start working at the office again on Monday. Oh, and then I’m off to Geneva on Tuesday – the week starts of busy!

I’m currently all over the web (yes, at 8am on a Sunday because I can’t sleep at the moment) searching for inspiration and the right items to re-furnish my office at home – the one I like to call my ‘creative space’. The room bores me when only looking at it; yes, it has everything I need, yet it is the least inspiring room in the whole apartment. That can’t be! So I’ve decided to start my own little mission and re-decorate, re-furnish and spice up that room just enough so that my inspiration can spark again without dragging along the empty walls.

I am looking to get a more Scandinavian touch into the whole room – with lot’s of whites, grey, a few blacks and a hint of color here and there (can’t be avoided with all those magazines stocking up).

Now I’ve already gotten one of these beautiful items (well at least extremely similar) – can you guess? It’s been ordered but sadly will take another 1-2 weeks to arrive, so I will have to practice my patience :-).. !

I should probably get dressed now and take out the dog before making my way to the airport later – it’s going to be long day with lot’s of hours in the car so I am really looking forward to getting some fresh air and a few steps in my schedule now. Wishing you all a great Sunday! xo

the Allrounder at Day and Night

0 Permalink

Happy Friday everyone! I can’t get over how fast time passes – it’s incredible! Today I want to share another style combination for you. I love combining my day outfit, so that it can easily be transformed to a nights out event. It’s incredibly important for me to look chic during the day for business and then be able to easily pull-up the outfit for when I’m out; without having the time to majorly change. So I love taking a pair of shoes and a shirt with me to work if I know I’ll be out in the evening again. Of course, this outfit is not something I would wear with clients – it’s not thaaat professional, but it’s a good, easy and chic “casual” outfit for winter. What’s really important to me is to always have a few items that I like to call the Allrounders – those that I can wear both at day and night with easy combinations.

With the winter coming now – ok, it’s freezing autumn already – I love wearing a pair of comfortable black leather pants. They are subtle enough to wear at day and glam enough for night’s out at a bar or club. Obviously, the major accessories such as a brilliant watch and some earrings are a no-brainer. And mascara! I cannot live without my mascara from Chanel. I love getting ready in general, but often times I don’t have enough time to sit hours (just kidding!) in front of the mirror or I just cannot be bothered, and enjoy a day without makeup on. But I cannot live without my mascara – not even for that walk to the supermarket across the street.

This watch is actually a men’s watch – but hey: who says you can’t wear men’s fashion? I say you can! Actually, I already own two men’s watches, as I’m oftentimes into those larger, heavier watches. I love the contrast of a big watch to a females’ wrist. There’s just something about it – or is that only me, haha? In general, I believe one piece of jewelry can be make such a difference to the whole outfit. Take this watch, for example. On one hand it can be combined so easily with so many different styles. On the other hand, it already has such a presence that a) not many other accessories are needed and b) it almost is a reason to style the outfit a certain way. I also have some fine jewelry pieces, were I often have the feeling I want to style the outfit a little more femine – or in contrast: totally grunge!

I love how the below Allrounders can be easily worn during the day with a comfortable sweater (love that one – just bought it yesterday!) and a nice pair of biker boots and hat. Comes the sunset, come the heels. The great thing about leather pants is you can literally wear them with any kind of shoe – be it sneakers, heels, flats or boots: it seriously always works! And that H&M x Alexander Wang shirt (yes, in my collection already!): how cool is that? Now I only need those heels, clutch and watch. I can’t seem to get over these items!

Which is your favorite item – or combination?
