Coziness in Miami

Good morning! I still have so much content left from my travels from 3 weeks ago. Looking through my phone last night I just found these photos again and searched through their website. Anthropologie is a store I stumbled upon on my little Saturday shopping spree in Miami – and I fell in love. It has this Scandinavian charm to it (and knowing me, you know I love everything from there) and I could have bought the whole store. They have such cute clothing pieces. What really struck me though, is their interior design pieces. There were so many bronze pieces, so many colorful, amazing plates, such great details everywhere – and so much stuff for my kitchen. However, there are some problems: my kitchen isn’t the greatest, my kitchen is already quite filled, my apartment in general isn’t all too empty (I love everything cozy for my home), and my luggage was already more than full. Good thing is, it didn’t kill my wallet. Yet again, I went on their online shop and fell in love, again. What are your favorite pieces? I am in love with the plates and dog-faces on them. And the bronze cups. Oh. Everything, really. Now I need to jump and go to the office though – so I’ll have to get back to this later tonight! xo

DIY Easter Egg Decoration

Good morning lovies! It is Monday and quite frankly I am really happy about that – yep, I am happy to go to work this early morning. As much as I love vacation, I really do enjoy my job and I am looking forward to seeing my colleagues again and writing all my emails. Am I sick? Haha, most likely! But really, what is it with people hating Mondays so much? I do agree that the weekends are almost always too short, and I really am not a morning person (ie. complain daily that I would need to sleep in some more), but I still enjoy what I do for a living and I believe that truly is the most important thing. I couldn’t imagine waking up to a job that I have to spend my whole day at, one that I spend more time at then seeing my loved ones and then not liking what I do. That is my worst nightmare in regards to working!

Anyway, now that the family arrived yesterday and we will be spending Easter together at my place, I really had to step up my game in regards to easter decorations. I’ve been blowing out eggs (sounds so wrong?!) the past weeks and days every time I made myself an omelette or something similar to have enough eggs at the end to decorate. Speaking of eggs – does anyone know why it is even eggs we hide, we color and we see everywhere? As far as I am concerned the bunny surely doesn’t lay them. Ok, this bothers me now – I will need to google that later today!

So for my easter egg decorations I decided to go all white, modern and copper this year. I have white porcelain bunnies all over the apartment – you probably now think I am a freak. And I stand to it, I absolutely do – I love my bunnies haha. :-) My mom actually brought me two more so now I really do have enough in the living room. I might just bring those two into my bedroom for some easter feeling in there.

I decided on spraying my easter eggs in  a copper, metallic look this year. Why? Simple! For one thing, I am not the greatest fan of the ‘traditional’ multi-colored eggs. As much as I love colors, I like things clean and not all too colorful in my apartment. Second, I love copper. I love everything that shines really and especially metal colors such as gold, silver and copper. I already broke one egg yesterday when one of the strings detached and fell down, but thankfully all others were fine. If the others don’t break I might actually keep these for next year – store them in one of those egg containers. :-) Anyone else so excited for easter? I still need to fully decide on recipes now but I have picked out some already for the upcoming days.

Now I need to sprint to work – I’ve got quite the catching up to do now that I’ve been on vacation one whole week. I will only have today really, as tomorrow I’ve got the surgery during the day and will be less active in regards to typing in the upcoming days. Ugh, I am really not looking forward to this – crossing fingers that everything works out! I’ll surely keep you updated, though I might only write a line or two in the upcoming days! Till then – smile, enjoy your Monday and kick-start the week like no other! xo

Beauty Talk : Beach Tan

0 Permalink

Happy Friday everyone! I found this webcam image on my computer and thought I’d share it with you. I get a lot of questions from people (also when out shopping), if I was on vacation. In fact, I wasn’t – however, I was in a 2min tan-shower and I believe the price is so worth it. I started the spray-tan late last year, first time round in November I believe it was. I absolutely love it now. The photo is from one of my first times – so actually I’m not even quite that tanned anymore, as I chose a slightly lighter shade to make it look more natural. I remember in the beginning I wasn’t all too sure and was much darker – it really didn’t fit my natural skin tone, nor my hair color. This photo is actually not all too correct – the lightning isn’t natural and my tan looks darker than it usually is. I’ll share another tanned one with you soon, though!

I’m usually the white bread between everyone else – literally, I am so pale in winter. This way I look much healthier and well, just like I came back from holiday. The best thing, I almost feel like I just had a short holiday when I come back from my spray tanning session. I do it around about every 10 days, sometimes stay pale in between though. So far I’ve done it in Kaarst (Germany) once but generally I go BeautySpace right near the main station in Zurich. It’s the most practical when I finish work – I jump into my short shower and then head back home.

Before trying spray-tan the first time I highly recommend you to read the before & after instructions. A good peeling the day before is a must and you shouldn’t use any perfume or body lotions on the day of the spray. So far I have only tried out the clear-spray, meaning the tan slowly comes after 6-8 hours. I usually just put on a bathrobe at home (don’t wear satin or do anything to make you sweat!) and lie down. It’s my lazy evening of the week – it’s great! Upon awakening I am a new me – a tanned me. I always feel so much more relaxed all of the sudden.

Not only does it look pretty: it feels pretty. Can something even feel pretty? What I’m trying to say is that the spray-tan literally hydrates the skin. Since I want the tan to hold as long as possible I tend to cream my body much more the days after, which gives even more hydration to the skin. A must-do when it’s cold outside and the skin is longing for some water re-fills. Secondly, I barely need any make-up. The make-up I usually wore in winter (foundation and whatnot) was basically to cover up the paleness – not needed anymore! All I need is my mascara, some bronze powder and/or rouge and voila, I’m done within 10 minutes in the morning. Which is amazing, since I also love sleeping in as long as possible.
