Salads & a Sat Outfit

0 Permalink

I am not sure what it is with me and salads at the moment – but I can’t get enough of them right now. I’m having at least one a day and usually make them myself at home. My mom showed me a dressing she always does and I absolutely love the taste! I’ll try to get a few nicer pictures sometime soon and then share it with you -it is super easy and makes any salad just taste so much better!

Also, I was wearing these sick looking jeans on Saturday and received a few compliments that night as well as quite a few PMs on my instagram and snapchat asking where I got these. So here it goes: Topshop! Lucky me I found them on one of my travels to London two weeks ago and I was so eager to finally wearing them. They are already such an eye-catcher that everything else can be kept rather simple I think. I paired it with an old blouse from Zara and shoes from Alto. Voila, easy, quick and eye-catching!

My weekend generally was amazing – I worked a bit on my uni stuff, went out (until 5am – rare for me!), barely slept Saturday night, went to the gym both on Saturday and Sunday (and can still feel it!), met a few new, lovely people and then went for a nice 2.5h walk Sunday afternoon with of my closer friends here in Zurich to enjoy the sun. I love the fact that Spring is coming – and it officially started as per yesterday – and cannot wait for the days to become longer and finally, finally warmer again! This week ahead is rather busy as well. Not just work, but also on the private side – I will be seeing quite a few people to catch up over coffees, lunches and dinners. I absolutely love it! What are your plans for the week ahead – anything good happening on the weekend ahead? xo

Leather Trousers

Hello loves! Time flies right now again – and at the same time, it doesn’t seem to move a bit. Have any of you ever felt this way? As you might know I got my tonsils removed 10 days ago. It’s already been 10 days, but then again only 10 days. I started bleeding again on Monday so I had to go back to hospital for two nights. I am still far from being fully recovered but it surely is going better now. Yesterday I finally left the house to go a little shopping now that all is on sale. It didn’t last all too long though, as I am still quite weak I noticed. Anyhow – no one likes reading complaints :)

I wanted to share a few photos with you of my favorite black leather trousers. They are the most comfortable pants ever, and still have that certain cool-factor to them due to the faux leather fabric and the sweatpants-look. I ordered them already a while ago at minimum – a danish company. They have similar ones actually on sale now, here! The long-sleeved shirt is from Zara and the sneakers are from Nike. The outfit is one of my favorites when I have that certain laid-back mood – and it almost reminds me of the Yeezus style. Pretty sure that Kayne would have approved as well.

Oh, and I did finally cut my hair. It doesn’t seem to be a lot to many and I doubt everyone notices the change but I did actually cut a full on 12cm. Like seriously, 12cm. Yes, I find it quite brave myself. I am still not a hundred percent familiar with the lenght and want to try out some new styles with it. I’ll try playing around with it as I am surely stuck with the length for a couple more weeks now. And quite frankly, I actually like having that extra hint of volume when waking up. What do you think of this messy, semi-wavy look? xo

Christmas Wishlist

0 Permalink

Happy second advent loves! It’s only two more weekends, two more candles, and then Christmas is right around the corner. I’ll be honest I am a little stressed this year with presents, and its seems I am not the only one. Family and friends have been asking me what I want for Christmas, and quite frankly – I cannot think of anything proper. There are a lot of things I see when I am on the go, a lot of things that would be nice to have, but really are not needed, or of course, there are the things that look amazing and you really do kind of want them, but they are too expensive to request them as a gift. That is exactly my position. My goal this weekend was to pick out some items, in no particular order of what I like best to least, but in different price categories with most of them in the rather affordable staple. I noticed that I love myself some nice watches and sunglasses – have you seen this color from the Dior glasses yet? Ahhh – I want them. And the watch, which is almost always sold out (typical, when you want something!). The boots and iphone case are actually found on one of my favorite websites (BestSecret.com), for which you need to be a member to shop. You only become a member through an invitation as far as I know – but do drop me a short note with your email if you want to be added! Another item that is really high on my (personal) list is the BeoPlay speakers – listening to music is like kissing the soul on the right spot. I always have music on when I am in the apartment and what I would love now is a speaker that I can take with me from room to room (let’s not forget I cannot have a huge bass station in one room and kill the neighbors by putting it too loud). The links with the items is right here:

ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE SIX SEVEN EIGHT NINE TEN ELEVEN

What are you asking for this holiday? Or even better, what are you gifting? I really need to stock up on some more presents, otherwise the tree will look a little empty this year. For now however, I wish you all a great Sunday. xo

Apple Cake Recipe

0 Permalink

Hello and good morning beauties! It’s monday, a new week, a new day, and a new opportunity to start something big – though it only includes work and uni on my side. As promised last time, I wanted to share my birthday cake recipe with you. I love apple season – there is so much you can do with apples, so much to cook, so much to bake and everything is overflowing with inspiration. And on the positive side, every dessert suddenly seems a tad more healthy! Or at least we can pretend that. This recipe, as always, is free of lactose and gluten.

What you need for the dough

140g buckwheat flour
100g buckwheat flakes (the smaller, partly grinded ones)
100g coconut oil
100g coconut blossom sugar (or normal sugar if you don’t have any – though the color and taste makes a difference!)
1-2 tablespoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons backing powder (GF)

What you need for the filling

4 large apples (or 5 smaller ones)
1 large tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon speculation spice (not needed but very yummi!)
3-4 teaspoons lemon juice
2-3 tablespoons agave syrup
1 large tablespoon buckwheat flour
2 tablespoons coconut blossom sugar (not needed if you don’t want it sweet, or even more if you like it sweet)

What to do

1) add everything needed for the dough in a large bowl and mix it well
2) the dough should be sticky, though not too dry – do add 1-2 tablespoons of water, if it seems to dry to later knead
3) make sure to line the cake pan with oil so that you can remove the cake easier later on – I used coconut oil, though you can also use olive oil or butter
4) place ⅔ of the dough into the cake pan and knead it to fill the whole inside (see pictures below)
5) cut the apples into 1,5-2cm slices and place them into a bowl with all other ingredients needed for the filling
6) once everything is well mixed, you can place the apples into the dough-covered cake pan – make sure that you don’t add the liquid that is left over in the bowl
7) using the other ⅓ of the dough, you can place any desired design on the cake – I chose the classic grid/checked style for this cake
8) place the cake into the pre-heated oven at 180°C
9) after 30-45 min, when the cake starts getting gold/brown colors, cover the whole cake with kitchenfoil and bake for another 60-45min (90min in total)
10) make sure to let the cake cool-off a bit before taking it out

Now you can

1) serve it while it is still warm – delicious!
2) keep it for later hours or the next day
3) add powdered sugar (looks amazing) or even serve it with whipped cream (lactose free if needed) for those that prefer it

The cake should hold for a good week, though to be honest, it lasted only until the second day for us!
On a side note, I used a smaller cake pan with a diameter of 18-20cm. For the larger sizes, I would try doubling the above ingredient amounts to fill it accordingly.

All Black Errthang

0 Permalink

Can you guess my favorite color? I know it’s nothing new and nothing majorly creative, but black is the one color that goes with seriously everything, works with (almost) every event and can be worn at any time of the day. I can’t believe I’m actually looking through online shops for autumn and winter clothes whilst lying around in a bikini everyday here in Cyprus. Yep, I’m still on vacation and I won’t deny it – I absolutely love this weather, and my tan is getting on quite well. I am cringing at the fact however, that I will arrive back in Zurich Sunday evening in almost freezing temperatures. Where has the summer gone all so fast? I’m really not ready for snow – and I’ve seen some of my friends post snow pictures already higher up in the mountains. Cringe. Seriously cringe. It isn’t even November yet!

However, here’s to something better – I found some great stuff online. Some, of which I will share with you here on Polyvore. I love black jeans, and although I might already have the one or other pair, I am a true believer of never having enough jeans. Quite frankly, I do sort and throw some out every other season when they are worn down and the fit isn’t as great anymore. I love these ones with ripped knees from topshop for aound 50$ only! In fact, all of the clothes – except the lovely gold accessories – are below 100$ each.

I used to not love turtle necks whatsoever. This season, for some reason, they totally hooked me. This one is perfect and you even get a 10% discount on your first order – screams for a fuller basket! These shoes are perfect for autumn, go with everything due to the color, and look super comfortable due to the slightly thicker heel. I just bought a similar pair already, which is the perfect fit for business as well as casual looks. I love buying clothes that I can not only wear in my free time, but also greatly combine during the week in the office or even when I have meetings. This coat is also perfect – it’s got the slight edgy feeling to it due to the leather, yet is sleek enough to wear over a blazer when off to the office. To finish the look and keep myself from freezing I love wearing scarves in autumn and winter. I’m really digging those thick knit pieces currently, so this one perfectly satisfies my taste.

Last, surely not least though, I love pepping up any outfit with some accessories. Especially black can quickly look dull or depressing if worn with no accessories at all – or even worse – without the right attitude. Attitude seriously is everything when it comes to fashion. You can pull off almost anything if you lift your chin in the right direction and throw out a bright-white smile once in a while. Match that with red lips and you’ve easily transformed the outfit for the evening. This Chanel bag has been on my wish-list for way too long. So I’ve finally decided to get one for myself – maybe already for Christmas. This one is actually a secondhand item, only worn once, yet from the price already much easier on the wallet than straight from the store. I’ll be searching a little more for the best one, though will most likely go for a secondhand one as well. The bracelet and earrings are pieces that will always work, every season, every year, for every occasion. Secondhand versions, for those that don’t want to, or can’t, burn a hole into their wallet can be found here and here. I personally love buying secondhand pieces if possible.

Now I’m off to dinner with the family! It’s BBQ night tonight, which means there will be lots and lots of fresh fish and meat from the grill – I’ll surely have problems again choosing what to take. With that, I wish you a great evening and rest of the week. xo
