TRAVELING THE NETHERLANDS: JILL & CO LIFESTYLE N°2

Thursday already! Isn’t it great? I love working, being active, and surely cannot sit still for very long. Yet, I am looking forward to this long weekend ahead. Long because I took off Friday, to see one of my besties that is visiting from Sydney. I will be showing her around Zurich and we will catch up on everything that has happened in the past year – and surely, there is quite a lot!

Looking through my files I noticed I had not shown you the second half of the pictures I took at the incredible Jill & Co Lifestyle store – the first post is found here. How amazing does this bedroom look, please? It makes me want to re-decorate and re-furnish my whole apartment. At least the bedroom (except for those lamps and the one or other detail that is simply too much). One day – and this is a promise to myself – I will have this sort of style throughout my apartment. It looks so inviting, so comfortable, warm and yet clean. Simply said, it makes you feel home after only being there a couple of minutes. And have you noticed the incredible floor?

My mom and I have some more shops that are on our must-see list. I am probably driving up to Germany again at the end of October for a longer weekend, which we will then use to drive to Holland for a day or two to run-through our list. I am so excited, it’s almost childish! The best part is, it will be around my birthday, so I have the best excuse yet to buy myself a present, or two – or three, whilst we’re at it!

For now though, I am looking forward to tonight. We are having dinner with an old family friend that my dad knows since they were about 19 years old, and whom knows me since I was born. I haven’t seen him in a couple of years now so I am really looking forward to catching up over dinner and a few drinks (yes to good wine!). Until then, I’ve got quite a bunch to go through at work and will continue my future house-day-dreaming in between.

Have a lovely Thursday. xo

Strolling through Amsterdam

0 Permalink

Hey everyone – I hope you had a wonderful first week after the New Year has started. It goes by so fast! I swear I say this on every post, but I cannot get over how fast time passes sometimes. My week started pretty calm with work, though I had a lot to work on that has build itself up over my vacation. Done with that, now the new things are strolling in already. Speaking of strolling: I just found more photos I took when my sister and I were strolling through Amsterdam. I cannot get over how pretty this city is – I really have to go again, once it’s warmer.

I especially love the little houses – they seem so squished in. It’s an art for itself and really, its super smart. During a boat’s tour I learned that the slimmer the houses in Amsterdam are, the less taxes you pay. That explains the amount of slim houses – it’s incredible if you think about it! Walking past a few breath-taking streets along the canals I noticed many offices of great, known firms. It makes sense if they pay less taxes, too! But I don’t want to bore anyone with taxes haha – so below find you can find some shots from our stroll through the city.

I’ll now get ready to meet one of my friends at her new place – love discovering new places, it’s always such great inspiration! I wish you all a cozy and great Saturday! xo

Torture tour in Amsterdam

0 Permalink

Happy Monday everyone! It’s official – vacation is sadly over already! Quite honestly though, I was looking forward to getting back to the office again. Now that I’m back, I know I could use vacation again soon haha. And here it goes: I’ve booked an amazing vacation for March with my bestie – so, so excited! I’ll be telling you all about it soon!

I still have quite a few pictures left to share with you from my weekend trip to Amsterdam – damn, there was just so much to see! I still haven’t seen all of it, so I decided I will have to go again. This time though, I want to go in summer and discover Amsterdam with a bike.

On Sunday of our weekend trip we decided to go to several museums: one of them being the famous Museum of Torture. I really thought there would be nothing in there that could surprise me – but damn, I’m so glad I didn’t live back then. The torture methods they used were insane – the pictures already gave me major goosebumps. However, it’s definetely something to see when you’re in Amsterdam and even teaches you great stuff about the history (mostly) in Europe.

I just had an amazing salade (with avocado and pear) for dinner and will most likely jump onto the couch quite soon. I also want to start a new book these days – I’ve gotten quite a few for my birthday and on Christmas! Enjoy your evening, xo.

Goodbye 2014; Welcome 2015

0 Permalink

Happy New Year everyone! It’s amazing how fast time passes – 2014 is officially over and 2015 has started. I love the saying ‘you’ve got an empty book of 365 pages ahead of you (well, 364 now) and it’s in your hands to write the story.’ If you think about it, it really is us – we are the ones writing our own books, creating paths we want to follow and living the life we want to. At least, that is what I try on a daily basis.

If I look back to the beginning of 2014, 12 months ago, it seems that the year has ended too fast. On the other hand, so much has happened and I have enjoyed almost all of it. Yes, there have been little ups and downs but really, it’s been a great year. I have moved from Hamburg to Zurich, went from an internship position to a full-time job, started StylePhantom, met some amazing people, people that I will surely keep in my heart forever, have travelled and seen different places. 2014 has been a good year for me and I am keen on making 2015 an even more prosperous, an even more exciting, and more fulfilling year than 2014 has been.

I have so many little plans for this upcoming year, so many larger, great ones too. I want to travel, I have picked out places already, I have personal projects, I have plans for changing my apartment a little and I am so excited to making all these things happen – to sharing them.

Then, of course, there is so much I do not know. I don’t know what exactly will happen in 2015, I don’t know who I’ll be meeting next, what other projects I’ll be starting and what projects I’ll be finishing. I have no clue for so many things and the great thing is, I am so happy to be in the unknown sometimes. I love waking up and planning ahead of time and then having to throw over all my plans for something else. I love discovering each day by the day, each hour by the hour!

I am absolutely looking forward to this year and I surely will be writing my own little book – excited to fill in the next 364 days. And, obviously – wishing you the most prosperous year with the most breath-taking moments. xo

Waking up in Amsterdam

0 Permalink

Good morning folks – and happy Monday! Today is our last day in Amsterdam and we are leaving in the afternoon to go back to Düsseldorf. The time here has passed so far! We did some major sight seeing, went to museums and last night to the coldest bar in Amsterdam- the Ice Bar. I’ve tried to take as many photos as possible so stay tuned in the upcoming days. Oh – and it’s Christmas so soon, I cannot  wait!

Staying in this hotel has been a blast – I’m loving the fact that it’s so close to everything. We just had a lovely breakfast in one of the cutest cafés ever – went for a little walk, came back to the hotel Die Port van Cleve and now need to check-out. We want to go a little shop today, but I need to hold back, because sale will start soon. Knowing myself I’ll be shopping after Christmas, as well! So I need to quickly pack now, because my sister is already waiting for me! Stay tuned.
