Finally back in Switzerland, Zurich, and finally back home. As much as I love traveling, there is no feeling that can beat coming home. Yet, I love traveling, exploring, seeking adventures and discovering what nature has to offer for us. It doesn’t matter how often I jump on a plane, I still cannot get enough of the breathtaking views one gets when flying over the alps leaving Switzerland, flying over the ocean or desert when flying into other exotic places. I just finished my business travels to Las Vegas (with a pit stop in San Francisco) last week, and then jumped on another plane the next day to fly out to Alicante. There, I met my grandmother, relaxed a little bit over the weekend and enjoyed the beach.

With so many bloggers nowadays using special drones to take bird-view photos, I obviously needed one, too. It’s a toy, I admit it – but I love it. I really don’t need it, given that this does not finance my life, but it is so much fun to not only explore nature whilst walking around or diving in the sea, but suddenly being able to see what usually only birds see daily. This perspective opens a whole other layer of creativity one can work with and, personally, makes me respect the nature around us just so much more.

The DJI Mavic Pro not only allows you take photos of the views you see on your iPhone, but likewise let’s you shoot videos. I personally love it, though do admit that it needs some practice on my side. I almost completely crashed and destroyed it on my first flight – jup, only happens to me – but managed to fix it and thankfully did not destroy the camera. I’m slowly getting better, though hope to improve my skills further in the upcoming weeks. What are your thoughts, experiences with drones (if any) and favorites? Also, can anyone recommend a good program or app to work on the video – one that is not overly-technical and complicated? xo

ps. I have had some great news come at me the past days, which I am hoping to reconfirm and then share with you guys in the upcoming 2-3 months. Can’t wait to tell you more!

Taco Night & my week ahead

0 Permalink

Finally, it was time for taco night! You guys have no clue how much I’ve been craving to eat some these past weeks. With all the traveling, being busy, going out for dinners and lunches almost daily, though – I’ve just not had the time to make these little pieces of deliciousness until this past weekend. Let me tell you, I fully indulged in these and do not regret a single thing. If you’re interested, I am happy to share the recipe with you – just drop me a line or PM.

My weekend in general was one I cannot complain about at all. I’ve taken time off completely – no studying, no writing, no nothing (except for some obvious house cleaning). The weather has been great – almost too hot (always need to complain, I know:). I’ve been at the lake, even in the lake (rare one for me), went for some longer rides with my bike, had friends nights, date nights, went for dinners, saw my closest friends, tanned (or at least tried to), and enjoyed my favorite wines (yep, can’t do without a glass here and there).

Now that the Monday has found it’s way into our lives again, or at least mine, it’s time to start planning again for the week. I’m off to London tomorrow – staying until Wednesday evening. It’s a packed trip with meetings all day long. I might have some free time tomorrow; and am hoping to spend that with my parents (landed in London this morning from Miami). Wednesday we fly back to Zurich together, get to spend a little time together on Thursday, and Friday I am off to Liechtenstein for the day (meetings). Basically, my week is rather crowded again. Yet, it’s just the way I like it: busy, not too stressful though, surely not boring. The upcoming weeks will mean a lot of traveling, again. Especially June, I will be off to Las Vegas (for a few days; business), followed by a short trip to Spain (seeing my granny). And after that I’ve got some personal stuff going on. Then, June is already over. Time flies. It really does. Let’s see how I can keep up with everything – I’ll try to take you with me! xo

Sign of Life

Good morning from Alicante! I know I’ve been offline the past couple of weeks and I apologize for not updating anything – really though, I’d rather leave my page somewhat empty than fill it with trash. However, I wanted to send a sign of life – yes, I am still alive. Work and uni have kept me extremely busy in the past weeks and now I am finally taking some days off in Alicante (Spain). That being said, I will start regular updates again after my vacation :-)

I am currently spending my days morning till late afternoon on my grandparents boat, whom I am visiting, swimming all day and trying to get in as many tan sessions in as possible! Oh and the food! – We go out for dinner almost daily, and let me tell you I think I gained 100 pounds by eating all this seafood and drinking it down with good wines. Delicious!

I arrived Sunday afternoon and will be leaving tomorrow evening already – short trip it was once again. The weekend then is packed as usual, with a million events happening in Zurich in the upcoming days. Monday I am back to my work and uni routine – so that’s when you’ll hear more of me again. Till then, xo

One last time; Summer

Hi all – I am back! It feels like I’ve been gone for ages. Actually, I tried posting earlier, but I had some problems uploading the photos and content during my actual trip to Alicante. It was LOVELY. It’s always somewhat special when visiting the grandparents. No matter what age, one is almost always treated like the little one that never grows up. Oh, how I love that feeling. Except for the wine-part – I love enjoying a glass of wine to my dinners, thankfully that was no matter to discuss.

We went out for dinner almost every night – except Thursday, when my grandpa cooked us his delicious, various specialties. Thursday is also their traditional night of shooting. They meet up with friends of their age at a specially rented place and do some “fun-shooting” as they call it. Guess what: Not only did I participate, but also did I win that night with the most points; even setting up a new record. Yep, I think I’ve found a new talent, too.

Besides swimming in the ocean everyday, except for the first day (was a little bit too wavy), being on the boat daily and going out for dinner, I managed to get quite the tan after only a few days. Oh how I love being tan. I am usually super pale, which ends  in people frequently asking me if I am feeling ill or if that is my “natural” paleness in winter. Yes, I am super white in winter. The happier I was, that I managed to increase my tan-lines before the summer came to an end.  This year’s winter goal: keeping that tan as long as possible!

Speaking of summer-endings: It’s officially autumn (or fall) as per today – at least in our calendars. As much as I love(d) the summer, I am eagerly excited for autumn. I love it when the leafs change their color, when everything around me turns red, orange and yellow and when I can start wearing all the layers again. Speaking of, have you seen the new collections coming in? It seems I am endlessly drawling over the new pieces when walking around town. This “I-really-need-to-start-saving”-mode has just not yet arrived haha. Anyone have similar troubles?

One Word: Vacation

3 Permalink

I love the summer, more than anything else – and I cannot believe that it’s basically coming to an end this year, once again. Luckily, I still have one small mini-vacation infront of me. Yes, you heard it right: off I go to Alicante! I love Spain, and although I haven’t been there since a while I cannot wait to see my grandparents again. If only, for a very short time. I will very much try to soak in as much sun as possible. Seriously, summer is only coming to an end and I already have the feeling I am completely pale haha. How can that be?

So now the packing begins! I will be taking a very, very early flight tomorrow. I hate waking up early – I get so moody, it’s horrible. Luckily, I never take it out on the outside world haha. I’m not sure if any of you know this problem, but I’m sure to not be the onlyy one with this problem. I pack too much! Seriously: it does not matter if I travel 4 nights or a full 2 weeks, I always manage to fill a whole large suitcase. It’s killing. I would bet with you that I will manage this time, as well. I mean, you have to think of everything. Mostly I will be in the ocean, on the boat and wearing a bikini. I will need one outfit for the evenings – there are four. That should be it: but, what if a storm comes up, I don’t feel like wearing one of the pieces or I buy something small that totally needs a new outfit? Yes, those are my packing problems… (*think me rolling my eyes here!)

For the quick flight I don’t really need much. I am also hoping to not check e-mails much and fully relax. Unfortunately, technology is one of my biggest loves, not giving me the opportunity to fully, fully let go. But imagine, no blog-readings, no instagram, no texting my besties? I would die. So I will take my iPad mini, my fr(i)ends for music and super importantly: my small Canon (EOS M). Ahh.., I cannot wait! I actually just bought the iPad mini last week – is it not SO cute? My old one, Version 2, has kind of died upon me. It is slower than slow and now the microphone is broken, too. I’ve been hoping on a new iPad presentation by Apple but to my astonishment there is nothing new coming out so far. I had been planning to buy the “new” iPad since the beginning of the year and was totally fed-up with not having seen a new one coming. My only decision, till the very last second, was the size. iPad Air vs iPad mini. I chose the mini and am SO satisfied. It is absolutely enough for reading on the go and it fit’s perfectly into every bag – even this new clutch from Friis & Company. Okay, it’s really not that new, but as you can see on the tag, I did not have the chance to take it out yet. So this will be a first in Spain for the WORD – ahh, how I love first-ies! ;)

Now enough talking, I really should finish up the packing! The flight, like I said, is waay too early. On the good side, I can enjoy the whole day in Alicante and be out on the boat already by 11 am tomorrow – so fun! Wish you all a wonderful rest of the week!

**You know when suddenly your computer shut’s down and everything you had written is suddenly gone? Well, that is what happened with this post. I was so fed-up that I left it, took a drink to cool down and then to re-start typing. Obviously, it turned out totally different haha!**
