Organizing Tasks with Sloane Stationery Notebooks

When it’s already October, almost November and soon December – it is fair to say we are close to jumping into a new year; 2018 already! I always say this but I really don’t know why time is running so fast. With the end of the year approaching rapidly, I get reminded that I have oh-so-many projects running simultaneously and there are a billion more tasks I want to work on.

It may sound unhealthy, but I prefer a little stress over boredom during the day. I need to constantly be under control of what I am doing, yet always love some deadlines to keep me going and finish up my task just before I get bored of working on something. Now this has less to do with what I do for a living in my job, but is focused more on a personal level. In business I have my tasks, my on-going projects and I have a focus (due to being in a small industry). Personally, however, I tend to be all over the place. I want to try out recipes, work on my healthy lifestyle, get in some exercise regularly, spend as much time with my puppy as possible, work on planning my upcoming travels (business and personal), research for these travels and write down the hot-spots I cannot miss out on, work on my blog in the background, create content on a regular, work on my new study-programme I recently started (will be announced soon), and spend some quality time with my family, friends and close ones so that hopefully no one feels left out.

With all these tasks, and many more I like to focus on or keep in the back of my head for when I have more free time, I still have my OCD moments in wanting it all outlined in the utmost pretty fashion ever. Obviously being addicted and relying on technology, I have everything structured in my agendas on my laptop, iPad and iPhone. I have calendars for StylePhantom, for my studies, for private, family only, and for business. All neatly categorized with different colors. The same goes for writing everything down offline. I grew up with still writing down everything in my agenda. I remember back in lower and middle school, I always wrote down our homework in fancy pen colors. Then had special colors dedicated to writing down when I’d meet what friends for a coffee at Starbucks or working on a class project together, and of course another special, usually glitter pen color for writing down all birthdays.

I still love doing it. I love writing down all birthdays, all travels plans, all to-dos, all blog post content ideas and all other random thoughts in a small little notebook (or two, or three notebooks). Obviously, those need to be fashionable as well. Wanting fresh “starts” every year, I tend to buy a few more every year or even semi-annually. By chance, a friend recommended me Sloane Stationery recently and I fell in love (check.it.out). They are the perfect size for throwing them into the handbag and writing down all thoughts and to-dos when on the go. And also, there is something so satisfying to it when seeing I can cross off a task on a to-do list with a red pen and it is even nicer to flip through a book at the end of the year and see what I have managed to accomplish and what is still outstanding or really was only a rubbish idea.

My Black Book

Happy 1st of April, peeps! Time passes way to quick again (I know I say this regularly), but honesty, it does. Do you every feel like you have so much to do, so many things you want to accomplish and too little time? I have this feeling regularly, but it’s become worse lately now that I’ve stepped up the game in working out more regularly – or so I try – and often times working longer hours (topped-up with a few hours of studying for uni). One thing that I cannot live without is to-do lists. It’s simply a must for me and feels oh-so-satisfying when I can cross off yet another point. I have my LV agenda with me daily for appointments and bigger projects, have all meetings and every oh-so-little task in my outlook calendar at work (and hence synchronized to all my tech-pieces), and used to have a paper notebook at home where I’d write everything down to later cross out. Yep, I’ll even write down ‘vacuum the apartment’ just to feel satisfied later on when I can cross it off. It gives me a feeling of having actually accomplished something (other than the apartment looking clean).

Now, because I love everything pretty and decorative: having a paper notebook flying around is not the prettiest thing (think of the off-tone blue notebooks that college students use when scribbling down notes). And then I found My Black Book. Seriously, how stylish, clean, low-key and sophisticated does it look? Can you imagine that I am actually getting excited to write down daily tasks? I want to use it for when I am at home, need to scribble down thoughts (for future blogposts for example), having sparking ideas that might turn me into a millionaire one day (I wish), or for writing down those things I always want to do but never get to actually doing because I am too lazy (re-organizing my bookshelves). I bought this one in Manor (store in Zurich), though you can also order it here on amazon.

My plan for the weekend is thus to write down all the little things I want to change in my apartment. From the bookshelves I want re-organized to the paintings I want to change – everything will be written down neatly in my little black book to cross out one by one at a time. With that, I wish you a wonderful continuing Friday and start to the weekend! xo

Planning 2016

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely start into 2016 and will continue to rock it! My NYE was amazingly peaceful, at home on the couch with a special someone and I for once did not have to worry about pleasing anyone with food recipes, cocktails, outfits or partying. It enabled me to start the new year on a quiet note and gave me the opportunity to actually be productive within the first days of January. This is rather rare as the past years have been a little more hectic, involved parties or definelty much longer nights and as most of you probably, it meant I was dead the next day.

The first weekend of the new year started with me trying to figure out my agenda for 2016. Yes, that is for the full year. Obviously I have not finished it all, but I have a quite good understanding of where I need to be at what times (speaking of family celebrations and round birthdays coming up). Some of my business trips are already sorted out and I think at the end of this month I will have an even better understanding of any larger upcoming trips. This enables me to plan my private time more, as with studies still going on this year and all other things, friends and loved ones can easily fall behind if I don’t plan well. Luckily, I am a huge lover of planning and also spontaneous when the timing matches.

As you might remember I mentioned wanting to plan ahead a bit more in regards to the blog. I’ve done exactly that. No, I have not planned every post for this upcoming year (is that even possible?), but I have already picked out important dates for certain categories and will try and bring a little more structure into it. With all these little dates and plans, I really only hope that I actually manage it all. I tend to trying to be a perfectionist and often get moody if I don’t achieve everything. There goes another resolution: I need to let things flow, take them as they come and not panic if I don’t manage something perfectly in time (given that I have the possibility to be flexible). Next up I want to try and set some dates for vacations this year – I really want to travel more! Any suggestions of what’s a must-see this year?

Whilst trying to plan my 2016, one of my Christmas presents I received from my parents came in perfect timing. I received a new Mont Blanc (Meisterstück), which I must admit – is a heaven to write with. It flows so easily over the paper that it almost becomes fun. In general, I find that writing by hand relaxing from time to time and see that most people do it less and less. I have sworn myself to write Holiday and Birthday cards to all special people in my life – and have done it the past years. Who doesn’t love receiving a card on their special day, or a sweet postcard on a random note? I always get excited when opening the mail and not receiving a bill for once in a while.

With that, I’ll turn to continuing my structuring of 2016 today. I have quite a busy day ahead in the office and need to get quite a bit done before I get my tonsils taken out tomorrow morning. Wohoo – isn’t that exciting! I really wish I had done it earlier and would be done and over with it now. Lessen learnt, I’ll have them removed when I’m younger in my next life! With that, I wish you a wonderful rest of the week. xo

Happy end-of-the-week! Finally it’s Friday again – and I am oh-so-lookig forward to this weekend, to simply sleeping in and simply do nothing. Quite frankly, that will of course not happen, as I always have stuff to do. I am snuggling up with a friend today, having a cozy night, will need to work on uni today and tomorrow, am having lunch and or coffee with one of my besties tomorrow who’s visiting from Geneva, am going out tomorrow evening (Karma Kaufleuten, here we come!), and then hopefully I can relax a bit more on Sunday. The good thing is, however, I can sleep in. Yesterday it was one of my (other) besties birthdays here in Zurich so we celebrated quite a bit and the evening was longer than I expected. Waking up this morning really wasn’t as easy-going as I had hoped before.

My birthday was on Tuesday – yay to being 24! Though honestly, I don’t feel any different – and not to my surprise, people still think I am super young (often expect me to be a few years older – hopefully don’t look old though?!). Last Friday I had driven to Düsseldorf (Germany) as I had mentioned in my last post and stayed until Wednesday, so I spent my birthday there with my family, had a cozy day, and believe it or not – still worked and had my uni stuff to do. It was absolutely fine though, and I’m glad I spent my birthday rather quiet this year. I had made an amazingly yummy apple cake the night before, of which I will share the recipe with you in my next post. I only got to eat 2 smaller pieces (it’s quite small, though I guess my hips thank me anyway), yet I cannot wait to make it one more time sooner or later. The apple-season basically just started and I am excited to make all I can with them. Tonight I will actually work on a pumpkin-apple recipe. Can you guess what? I’ll surely share it with you if all turns out proper (crossing fingers!), so stay tuned on that one.

Till then, I wish you a lovely weekend! xo

Welcome to the Family

I love technology – could one have guessed? Obviously. This new MacBook Air is now officially part of my Apple family – I cannot get over how pretty and how light it is. I love having a laptop again. I gave my “old” MacBook Pro to my sister almost a year ago, thinking I don’t really need one anymore. How wrong was I? Fair enough, I only started getting active with my blog around one year ago again and I do have all other necessities to blog at home (iPad, iMac, etc..). Now that I have officially started studying again (yup!), all whilst working, I really needed a laptop again. It is just so much easier when traveling, and of course, it was the perfect excuse to buy a laptop for being able to blog when on the go. I took ages to decide whether to go for the Air or the Pro, but in the end, I like having things light. I tend to carry around way too much stuff with me already, and who needs a drive nowadays anyway, when everything is done via USB or SD cards. :-)

I’m actually still in Düsseldorf – practically, I can work from anywhere if I have a laptop (finally do again!) and Internet. I wanted to leave yesterday already but the 7 hour drive was just too much after having driven already 7 hours here on Friday. I decided to stay a day longer and enjoy the family time a bit more (when not answering emails or calls) and will leave tomorrow morning back to Zurich. I could stay here much longer if I could – my mom cooks amazingly, I have a bed, I can (kind of) sleep in because I can work from home and don’t need to rush to the office. However, I do have meetings coming up Wednesday onwards and will be back in Geneva on Friday – no time for taking time off. Then again, I’m flying into vacation next week Friday already! I am SO excited :-)! My best friend and I booked a hotel in Oman (here it is, I couldn’t keep it a secret any longer!) and we will be diving twice a day for 5 days straight. It will be amazing – and I cannot wait for the summery temperatures. Finally I can wear a bikini again! Have any of you been to Oman before – any must-see places I need to visit? We will have a day or two in Muscat (city) so we will be exploring the culture as much as possible in those hours.

Now that I’ve taken my little lunch break – off I go continuing my work. xo
