If you are looking for a genius wedding guest book idea – stop right here! Have you ever been to weddings and written some lovely words in a guest book or even worse, scribbled something in it right at the end of the wedding on your way our and wondered whether these lines will ever be read again in a few years? I surely have. We have been to several weddings these past years and I have had the luck that one of my besties married roughly a year before me. One tip that she gave me, is to not worry about the guest book too much; or at least not put your hopes up that it will work out exactly as planned. Yet, I really wanted something personal from everyone and so I started browsing the web for ideas.
Not only did I want a wedding guest book that I could always look at again in the future to remember our favorite day, I’ve also always wanted a polaroid camera at our wedding to capture some of the emotions from the view of our guests (and not just the photographer; whom was bomb btw!). Samuel and I started brainstorming and very quickly came to the idea that we could perfectly combine both – the guest book and the polaroid camera! Our plan was to lay out the polaroid camera (and some wedding props for those that wanted more action in their photos) and ask every guest to take at least one photo of themselves (or have one taken of them).
On the day of our wedding, we made sure that our close family, our best man and maid of honour all new the wedding guest book idea and placed it in their hands to get the message across to all of our guests. Let me tell you, it worked perfectly!
We had roughly 50 guests at our wedding and ended up with polaroid photos of all of our guests in the most fun group combinations! Due to so many photos I was then able to choose the best ones for our wedding guest book idea – the frame! I bought a big frame that fit all the photos I chose from that day, placed the photos on a large white paper to see what order I wanted them in, and lastly glued them to the paper before adding it to the frame. The outcome is utmost perfect and I love looking at the frame every time we walk past it. Once we moved to the new house, we will find a lovely spot for it so that we can always remember our wedding day and wallow in memories when looking at it.
For our frame, I used the following items and can recommend each and every piece!
- The Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 Instant Camera (the polaroids are a bit larger than most which was ideal for landscape photos!)
- The Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 Camera Case – perfect to carry around and protect the polaroid camera whilst the guests are using it (and for future purposes, too!)
- The Fujifilm Instax Wide film (we had over 200 photos available for our guests and almost all were used; so make sure you have enough)
- I used this IKEA Frame to frame our polaroids and bring this perfect wedding guest book idea to live!
