In Silver Memory

There are so many things I took with me from Marrakesh, as I’ve told you before, especially the memories I’ll always keep within me. Memories always stay clearer in mind, if there is something to remind you though. Or it seems that is the case for me. Of course I couldn’t leave this beautiful city without taking some things for my new apartment. This silver teapot is not only the perfect decoration piece, bringing some cultural feelings into the room, but also great for winter. I love drinking tea in winter and love it even more when presented in an uber-cute way. This might sound horrible, I know, but I think things can immediately taste somewhat better if they are presented in a great way.

Currently my lovely silver teapot is placed in the living room reminding me of the beautiful times in Marrakesh. I cannot wait for winter, when I can present some tea to my friends in this stylish piece. The first time I saw it in Marrakesh, I really wanted to rub it, hoping a genie would pop out and fullfil three wishes of mine. Sadly, this did not happen, though I would know the three wishes straight away. What would you wish for, if you had three wishes for free? Continuing, I wish you all a great rest of the week!

Drinking with Style

Call me a drinker, an addict, an alcoholic – or, call me human. Of course I don’t drink every day and I know that alcohol surely is not the healthiest drink out there. To be fully honest though, I think a great glass of wine can round up and accentuate a meal like nothing else. I love having my glass of white wine next to my truffle-pasta, my glass of red wine to go along with the roast beef or a glass of rosé on a chill evening at the lake with my friends. What I do not do, is drink by myself. As much as I enjoy drinking a glass at a nice evening with good food, I never drink at home when I’m by myself.

Now that I’ve spoken so unnecessarily much about drinking, I’ll get to the point of this post: drinking with style. Style is a huge factor in my life. Whether it comes down to my clothing, my food, which I always try to nicely arrange, or my apartment, I love living in style. Surely, I do have things from IKEA and my apartment is definitely not a designer-piece in itself, but I do try to buy everything for it to harmonize. My style is surely not everyone’s style – therefore called personal style – though I would say it’s not too bad. I love Swedish interior design, mixing antique with modern pieces and vice versa.

My newest buy: wine glasses (getting back to the drinking topic). Prior to my new glasses, I had white wine glasses from IKEA. Not bad looking at all – they were absolutely fine and did their job. After a short time though, I was left with two from six glasses – they break way too easily. So it was clearly time to buy new white wine glasses. Yes I keep saying white wine glasses and differentiating it from red wine glasses, as white wine glasses are usually narrower and smaller in size. I had been looking for new glasses weeks now, though did not want the regular supermarket ones.

Now that I have my first apartment, I try to invest into my buys. Slowly but surely my style has evolved to a point, and been there for quite a few years, where I feel safe investing into it.

One brand I love is Villeroy & Boch. They have amazing cutlery, plates, glasses, … – you name it!  I’ve been love-eyeing with these glasses for a while, though really did not want to spend so much money on one single glass. Remember, you need at least six to eight glasses, if you really want ones to keep a bit longer. Also, I think its important to have a certain number of the same glasses, in case guests come.

I fell in love with these glasses and fell in love in a second round, when I saw they were on sale. I only paid a third of the price per glass – now is that not a great deal? I immediately had to buy them, eight of them. Now I cannot wait for my mother to come visit me here in Zurich – she is bringing some bottles of wine to store (remember, I always want to be able to serve good wine with dinner for guests) – meaning we can use the glasses first time round this weekend. I feel almost silly getting so excited about this – is it normal to be so happy to have invested into wine glasses? I surely hope I’m not the only one out there. What have you in invested in last? Do you invest money into these kind of things?

I wish you all a wonderful remaining day and a great start into the week!
