My Favourite New MakeUp Mirror from SimpleHuman

Happy Tuesday! Yesterday I arrived in London for a business trip until Thursday. My days are filled with business meetings and delicious meals – so good! But enough of that (check my Instagram to not miss out on any stories), today I am here to talk about my new beauty tech gadget. I am speaking of the Wide-View Sensor Mirror pro from Simplehuman! Sounds extravagant, doesn’t it? Well, it really is a game changer.

For those having read my last few posts, and those that know me, I am such a fan of good lighting! This may sound strange, but for those of you doing your makeup in a bad light, you know the struggle! Our bathroom lights really aren’t good at all, and so I’ve always done my makeup in front of our large bedroom windows, hoping for some natural light. Because, as we all know, natural light is still the best. No one needs an orange makeup line down the jaw before leaving the house :)

Unfortunately, the light outside isn’t always as good, either. Especially now that winter is around the corner again, there will basically be no sunlight before I arrive at the office. But really all year round, a grey cloudy day can ruin everything when it comes to good natural light for your morning makeup routine.

My hubby knew my frustrations and acted (another reason I love him!). A few weeks ago we were looking for a new mirror with light for our bathroom (which we also purchased), when we found this beauty online (here)! What started with us being amazed (we are such gadget nerds!) by the technology descriptions, quickly escalated in an order and delivery a few days later.

This makeup mirror really does it all! And this is NOT sponsored :) It’s got a wide view – basically three mirrors in one, making it possible to see yourself and face from basically every angle! It comes with a small magnetic mirror that you can take off and zooms x10. The light is super natural AND, changes according to your background. Basically, the light changes depending on the light around you. Therefore, I can finally put on my makeup in a completely dark room and still have the most natural light, EVER! Also, so SO cool, is the fact that you can connect it to your app. Basically, I can use a selfie from a certain environment (let’s say candlelight dinner selfie) and the mirror will adjust it’s lighting to “mirror” the light of the place you’ll want your makeup to look natural in. The technology behind it is simply amazing. I have no idea how exactly this works, but I am a huge fan! Also, it turns on automatically once I sit in front of it without even having to turn anything on / or off, that is. So practical!

So yes, the mirror surely isn’t the most inexpensive, but for those looking for a safe bet on getting the best and most natural light, this IS IT. The only negative I’d say, is the small mirror. I would find it more practical if the magnetic field was a little higher up and I wouldn’t have to lean down so far when looking for a close up. Then again, I barely use it so I don’t mind it all too much.

Summer Fridays all Year long

Recently a friend asked me what face cream I use and complimented my skin that morning. That is such a rare question for me, you have no idea! I am the worst at keeping up a daily beauty routine. Seriously, I wish I was one of those that religiously practices their beauty routines everyday: wake up, clean face, add a million creams, add makeup, wash off in the evening, add another million creams, oils, etc. I do actually spend the money on new products once in a while and test them out for a bit. I’ve recently become a fan of hand creams, but that is for another story for another day/post.

The one product that I do use every single morning since about a year or so is the Jet lag Mask from Summer Fridays. I have been following Marianna Hewitts blog Life With Me for a while and instantly loved the product when I read about it: It’s paraben free, cruelty free, sulfate free, uses not synthetic dyes or fragrances and, is vegan! This face mask is perfect for giving your face an instant glow and a refreshing moisturising look – which I guess was developed just for that. I read that some people add a thick layer on their faces and leave it in for a while (which I just noticed it also says on the website! haha), though I for myself recommend creaming the whole face with it every morning.

Especially in the summer I do not wear make-up and thus having a nice naturally glowing skin is super important. And likewise in winter: I want my skin moisturised before adding the make-up so that I don’t look like I clustered several layers on my face due to dry skin :)

A New Haircut – Welcome to the Lob Family

I did it! I finally cut my hair a little more than usual – and it only took me two years of self-convincing. Not all too bad.

In all seriousness though, I always have to smile at how attached most of us women are to our hair. Cutting it from long (under boob length) to over the shoulder already seems like a huge step. And it was. Surprisingly, I felt quite at ease when walking out of the hairdresser. I guess that I have been planning this for so long, that now I was almost certain of exactly how it would look and no surprises came up. That is, you do have to trust the hairdresser – of course. Funnily enough, although a lot of people have asked me, I did nothing but cut my hair. The whole hairdresser visit took me around 45 minutes; including washing and hair drying it. I think that is the shortest time it ever took me. People have asked whether I have coloured my hair again – and although the light falls differently on the photos, there is no change in hair-color as such. Honestly,I have had some slight moments of doubt though, in the past days (I got it cut on the weekend). I either feel it is too short to do anything with it, or perhaps a little to long. I might need to thus wait a few weeks for it to grow just a tad more, or simply cut off another 5cm. I am very much leaning towards the second option. In addition: Is it just me or do I look more mature now? Surely feel like it, though!

What’s next? The week has started rather busy – then went a little quiet and is now fully blown packed again. Speaking of packed, I need to pack my little suitcase once more this tonight. Tomorrow afternoon I am off to Malta to see the family until Monday evening. I have decided to take a long weekend off – really need to catch up on some sleep and find a bit more me-time to work on my new projects. Speaking of – I most likely already told you that I have handed in my master thesis. Now is the time to relax and do nothing – you think? Of course not! I have already started something new that is utmost exciting to me, is done out of complete personal interest and is all about .. health! I will be telling you more on my next post. Lastly, there is another big, big, big thing happening mid next week and I am dying of excitement. It is something I have been wanting for all too long and now the time has finally arrived. Of course I will be showing you all about it – so stay tuned. If you cannot wait to seeing the news here, be sure to follow me on my other social media accounts! xo

Gisou Honey Infused Hair Oil

There is nothing more I love than good hygiene. Be it for the man or woman, hygiene is super important to me. Especially when it comes to women though, I believe there is a whole lot of things one can do to optimize the overall beauty. That is not to say one needs to have botox, wear make-up, do your nails or anything else that would look or is fake. No, I mean one should look to always look their best. That means making sure the nails are all the same length and clean – whether one wants to have them long or short, colored or natural; is fully up to the individual.

The sexiest thing a woman (and man, while we’re at it) can have, is confidence. Being confident in itself is the non-plus ultra. It is what turns a girl into a woman – in my opinion. Personally, I love to get ready and make myself pretty. By no means does that mean I take hours in the bathroom. No, I myself am a huge fan of going for a quickie – so to speak – when it comes to getting ready. I usually take around 15-20 minutes (though of course can take up to an hour if I start the music and dance around in between getting dressed).

Another indicator of perfected hygiene, for me, is the hair. All my friends, family and those closest to me know that I could never the leave the house with somewhat greasy hair. Who does that you think? Well, all too many people. And never would I judge (kind of) regarding what others do, but surely it is something I can by no means do. I like my hair looking freshly washed, shiny and healthy. Due to me doing sports quite a few times a week though, I usually wash my hair almost daily. I never understood how some people only wash it once or twice a week. Sometimes I wish I could – it would save me quite a bit of time. Yet, I can’t go longer than 1-2 days and I need to wash it. Not just for it to look its best again, but also because I seem to feel more comfortable and cleaner once I washed it.

One blogger I have always looked up to when it comes to hair, is Negin Mirsalehi. Seriously, how can one have SUCH perfect hair? I am beyond jealous every time I see her hair. Certainly, I am not the only one that has noticed her hair and smart as she is, she marketed the product her mother initially founded. The Gisou honey infused hair oil comes in the most beautiful packaging – you know; those ones that you just can’t throw away because they are so pretty. Once you open the book-looking box, a small delicate book is the first thing that flashes your eyes. In it, Negin opens up about her childhood, about what bee-keeping means to her father and herself, and how her mother is the only one that is allowed to touch her hair. The whole package really shows how much love Negin has for this product (and the other ones she has) – and my deepest hope, right now, is that once I have used this for a while I will have the same (or semi-same) hair as her. Crossing all fingers! And of course, I will let you guys know how and if it worked the wonders I am hoping for. Does anyone else have experience with it, yet? xo

Kylie’s Lip Kit

0 Permalink

Saturday already! I really wanted to post earlier this week, but – surprise, surprise – was caught up with business and studying once again. At the end of last week I finally received the lip kits from Kyle Cosmetics. I have always been wondering how these products are – if it’s really good quality as always talked about or rather a hype because, well, it’s Kylie after all. It all started rather dramatically, however, when I went to the post office in full agony to receive the package. I knew it had to be the Kylie packet – after all, it was the only thing I had ordered from the States that time around and was the only one I understood why I had extra customs costs (thank you, Switzerland – not!). Best part of the story, though, is that they lost the package. They couldn’t find it and left me standing without anything to take home that night, though promising me that they would search and call me later that day. Already purchasing these products was harder than ever imagined. All products seem to be sold-out constantly. Kyle oftentimes announces a re-stock, but I usually only see it the next day (due to the time differences). So annoying! Until, one night late after studying, I saw that she had just made a new annoucement – and, I was lucky! I was able to purchase all three matte liquid lipstick & lip liner kits I so desperately wanted to try myself: Dolce K, Candy K, and Koko K.

Those of you that know me personally and those that follow my snapchat, know that I love both Candy K and Koko K! Both are ridiciously good at covering up, are a perfect matte, stay on for hours, do not dry out your lips and are perfect nudes to combine with almost every outfit. I still haven’t had a chance to wear the Dolce K in public, as it is quite a bit darker and rather for the evening (in my opinion). Speaking of evening, I might get the chance to wear it tonight, when I am hopefully going out for dinner (and if not, I will order something, for sure!).

The past days, as I’ve mentioned, have been rather busy. Next week isn’t any quieter. I will be traveling to Geneva on Monday through to Wednesday for business, and will be flying to Germany (Düsseldorf) on Thursday. There I will be with the family until Sunday night. Friday my sis has her high school graduation and we are planning on a lovely dinner high up in the sky! Can you guess where? I’ll try to take pictures, even if it is dark, though surely you can follow all happenings on snapchat. Until then, however, and very important as well: the EM has started! Although I am not the greatest soccer fan on a daily, and I do not watch every match and every league, I am beyond excited to (hopefully) see Germany play and succeed in the following weeks. Tomorrow’s first game is against Ukraine. Cross fingers! Though, of course, I will be fair and agree that the better shall win!

With that, I wish you lovely continuing Saturday! Stay tuned on snapchat to receive daily updates. xo
